NAPOLEON RETURNS 1815 is our strategic level campaign game on Waterloo. With fewer than 25 pieces on the board strategic movement creates tension and campaign choices for both players. Further a limited number of movement points adds to the tough decisions for players. Once battle commences a unique twist on a classic battle card system comes into play. Cavalry, Artillery and Infantry mix within a corps can open up more options. The game is playable by 2 to 3 players with a playing time of about 90 minutes. Several games can be played in an evening. Great for Tournament play!
All components will be printed using top quality materials. Wooden rectangles with labels (embossed for stretch goal #1) are used for the Corps Maneuver Markers. The Corps boards track corp strength and fatigue and the tracking markers are wooden cubes. The Corps Unit Boards will be high quality cards with period art. The Battle Cards will be top quality linen finish cards with large readable print.
For those of you that remember the Avalon Hill Classics Napoleon and We the People, you will easily pick up some of the blended concepts and a nod to those classics. The setting is a strategic map of the Waterloo campaign. The combat system uses cards based on corps strength and leader abilities. Throw in gorgeous Napoleonic corps game pieces similar to Napoleon at Marengo that maneuver on a military style map and the setting is complete. Now add lots of new concepts centered on corps level deployment, movement and battle fatigue to the mix to provide a fresh Napoleonic gaming experience.
OVERVIEW OF WHAT YOU GET
DETAILED EXAMPLES OF WHAT YOU GET
Optional battle rules use select Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery within Corps for combat cards.
Pieces are set up with their commander name facing the owning player (this provides fog of war). Corps Unit Boards are screened by a player aid screen set up between players to mask corps strength and fatigue.
Each turn the following sequence is followed by first the French, then the British, and last the Prussian player.
HOW TO MOVE:
Determine the movement points pool for the active French, Allied or Prussian army for the current turn. Each player rolls a die to determine extra movement points for their pool and weather can affect it.
Based on the movement points available, each army can do the following by using one movement point:
1. Move one corps it base movement rate.
2. Move one corps one extra location above its movement rate if its fatigue level allows it. Increase its fatigue by one.
3. Move the army commander.
Each corps has a fatigue track that records increases and decreases to its fatigue. Corps fatigue increases are caused by the following:
1. Extra Movement
2. Intercepting an opposing Corps movement
3. Participating in a Battle
4. Reinforcing a Battle
5. Battle Card Affects
6. Retreating from a Battle
Corps can reduce fatigue by not moving in a turn.
AFFECTS OF FATIGUE:
Once a corps reaches a fatigue level 5 it must pass a fatigue die roll to successfully do an extra move, interception, or reinforcement. Once a corps exceeds a fatigue level of 10 it is removed from the game.
Battles occur when corps of opposing sides move into the same location by movement or interception.
Each side draws combat cards based on the following:
1. Each Corps present draws its current combat cards.
2. For each Army Leader present, draw the army leader combat cards.
3. For each Corps reinforcing a battle, draw its current combat cards on the battle round it arrives.
4. For each Corps intercepting an opposing Corps draw one extra combat card.
Each side reduces combat cards for the following:
1. Each Corps crossing an adjacent river reduces one card.
2. Each Corps reinforcing a battle reduces one card.

Risks and challenges
Worthington has completed over 33 kickstarter campaigns. We have been in business for 14 years now and have produced over 55 games. The biggest challenge faced is always in dealing with the printer and shipping. Delays can occur and always being up front with customers and letting them know what is going on is critical.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
