About this project
The SoundCloud of simple music creation and discovery! From the late night party rapper to the multi-platinum grammy award winner, anyone can have fun on Floshare!
As a producer, you can use Floshare as a channel to promote your music. You control whether you want to sell your beats or have them used freely within the application to give you quicker exposure.
As an artist, your vocal skills will be heard and interacted with by music enthusiasts around the world. Battle others to be the best and share what you create. The more people liking your tracks and interacting, the higher your profile will rise on the charts, giving you the exposure necessary to be discovered as an up and coming Floshare artist.
Be a part of our story and help artists be heard around the world through simple interaction...
WHERE WE'RE AT
1. We are using this Kickstarter funding to finish Floshare 1.0 which requires a month more of coding and updating for iOS 7. Floshare 1.0 will be the first product released to the public.
2. Funding will also be used for bug testing and full design and technical (UI and UX) review.
3. As of right now, we are seeking out major recording artists and celebrities for Floshare users to interact with.
3. In the future, we look to expand Floshare into other music genres.
HOW KICKSTARTER WORKS
You can pledge any amount and choose a reward. At the end of our Kickstarter campaign, if the combined total of all pledges for our project meets our $20,000 goal, then the credit cards of those who have pledged are charged and we receive the funds to continue the apps development. If we don't meet our goal, then the money is not withdrawn from your account and no rewards are provided. If we exceed our $20,000 goal then the extra funds will be used to make Floshare even better.

HOW FLOSHARE WAS BORN
When I was 18, I went to a party and couldn’t help but notice that almost all the people in the room were obsessed with, the then newly released app, Snapchat. That night at the party, a close friend of mine decided to turn on a beat and start rapping over it. He became the life of the party and eventually one by one, every single person in the room wanted to freestyle. No matter how they sounded, it didn’t stop anyone from trying.
I looked to combine the trend of people interacting with beats with this newfound interest of sharing some piece of their lives to their friends and having it disappear without a trace. That is how the original concept for Floshare came to life.
"Snapchat for freestyle Rap"
That summer, I found a young development team in San Diego called Barefoot Solutions who took on the project and teamed with designer Anthony Pitassi to design the Floshare application and brand.
While in the first ever Incubator class at Loyola Marymount in 2013, the Snapchat for freestyle rap idea was becoming something totally different. The LMU Business program always seems to stress the importance of pivoting but I never realized the real world application that this idea actually had.
We pivoted and began developing a true social platform developed around all music creation and interaction. Rather than continuing with the Snapchat model, we began to take more of a Twitter approach, giving users the chance to go viral and amass large social followings.
While in the Incubator program, I met my new partner, Vidya, while working on another technology project. Her company was looking to launch an app in India that was very similar to that of Floshare. Her experience and background with international products was exactly what Floshare needed to bring the app to people around the world.
Risks and challenges
I am a 19 year old student / entrepreneur! This pretty much tells it all.
The challenges of the Floshare Kickstarter will be getting the word out, and convincing Kickstarters to participate. There are so many amazing projects out there, it will be a challenge getting the attention we need to make this Kickstarter successful. To reach as many people as possible, I am asking friends, families, and various blogs to help me spread the word.
I'm often asked how I plan to manage Floshare with everything that I'm doing while being in college? When you have a lot going on, you are forced to manage and prioritize your time more effectively. Youth in entrepreneurship is an obstacle, but it's one that should be embraced, not feared. This obstacle is one that pushes you to work harder than you ever have before, and your passion for what you're doing always gets you through. The best part is that once you've jumped the hurdle, it's the greatest feeling in the world. I have a lot more hurdles to jump, but it's awesome to know that it's possible.
This entire process has been awesome. My "cool idea" has taken off! Floshare, "Snapchat for freestyle rap" has grown into something more scalable than I could have ever imagined. I never would have thought that 8 months ago my app would have attracted attention and partnerships with people and companies from around the world.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to share this with the Kickstarter community!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
