10 City Shortlist & Free Tickets for Backers!
The backers have spoken! I've had people in the following cities request a GHOSTS screening in their town:
- Ann Arbor
- Los Angeles
- New York City
We'd love to go to all of these cities, and we probably have enough money to do more than 5 now, but we're going to prioritize the places where we have the most backing.
If your city is one of the above and you'd like to support it, the first thing you can do is set your location in your profile (go here or Me->My Profile->Edit Settings). That's a vote for that city! I'll update the totals on the Kickstarter page as things start to heat up.
Secondly, you can spread the word to people in your town about the Kickstarter project. I know some of you have done this already -- thanks much, by the way! -- but maybe (for instance) Montreal backers could tweet something like: "Want more lo-fi sci-fi in Montreal? Pledge like I did at http://kck.st/I6uOXa to bring these guys to town!"
For those of you thinking right now: "He's trying to turn us into Human Spam! Just like in the movie!" Fair enough. However, even though there's a product attached to this, our main motivator is community building. There are easier ways to market, but by doing it this way we're hoping that we'll start to interconnect lo-fi sci-fi folks in different towns who'll continue to collaborate after we're gone.
Oh, and forget what I said in the last update with the city ticket reward approach, that proved too complicated to administer. Instead, if, say, Chicago is booked for the tour, we're going to give each Chicago-identified backer a free ticket to the screening -- in addition to their original rewards. We really appreciate your early support of this weird project!
Toronto backers: because we've got such a big guestlist already with the cast and crew, we can't give you free tickets to our May 30th screening. However, backers who also preorder tickets are going to get a free No Media Kings item at the screening: I'm going to have a good selection of my books, DVDs and t-shirts to thank you.
