In celebration of krump's tenth anniversary, "The Underground" is a live theatrical experience documenting krump's history. The first show of its kind, the production was created and conceived by Miss Prissy, "Queen of Krump," and features the choreography and talent of Lil' C, krump pioneer and guest judge on the award-winning show "So You Think You Can Dance," as well as the artistic talents of the best krump dancers on the planet. The show will premier at the University of Southern California this fall, on Wednesday, September 5th.
We want to get you and your community involved in helping bring to the stage a dramatic theatrical performance that speaks to what we believe is the importance of hip-hop culture and dance on urban spaces and communities worldwide. The creativity, emotion, and movement that takes life in these spaces is something we believe everyone should be able to witness and experience.
The funds raised by kickstarter will go to paying the 12 dancers retroactively for the hours of rehearsal time they have put in, for their costumes and the sets.
As dancers and artists, krump has privileged us to experience the impact of dance on communities all over the world. With your assistance, "The Underground" will bring this same experience to a stage near you.
