High Lakes is a 16mm film that combines staged scenes along with observational documentary recordings of summer housekeeping work at a lakeside resort in the Oregon Cascades. The film’s voice-over sound track includes interviews with family, friends and colleagues discussing their own past work experiences. These voices are accompanied by my personal reflections on my time working in resort housekeeping, and raises questions about precarious work, both its place in the economy, and what it means for the future of work.
This fundraising effort is part of the final push toward completion, including high quality 2K digital scans of the film negative, color correction and final sound mix. Any funds raised beyond the goal, will be dedicated to help support distribution.
A few of the rewards are pictured below, please see Reward Details for information about International Shipping:
Risks and challenges
The majority of this film has been shot, making this a low risk project. Post production personnel are professionals who have provided the same services on my previous films, so I have full confidence in the quality of their work. I do not anticipate delays with any of the rewards except for the possibility of weather to affect the Day at the Lake perk, which can be rescheduled.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
