After abandoning her engagement party in the middle of the night, Olivia Cartwright discovers a fantastical shop that sells the impossible – wishes.
After Hours is Robin's third independent graphic novel, and it's definitely the one she's proudest of. An exploration of family, love, grief, and moving forward, After Hours is a must-read for fans of magical realism.
After Hours is a self-contained graphic novel, written and illustrated by Robin Hoelzemann, and flatted by Holley Mckend. This will be the very first time the comic is available in print. You'll be able to read After Hours in full colour, in a beautiful, glossy, 56-page, A4 book. Including a fantastic logo design by Paul Duffield and a cover coloured by Triona Farrell (both of which will be revealed as the campaign progresses) this will be your chance to dive into the definitive edition of After Hours. By supporting the comic at various tiers, you can get:
If you're new to Robin's comics, a limited edition of The Witching Hour is also available, printed especially for this Kickstarter with a beautiful silver-foiled cover. The Witching Hour is a 44-page Gothic fairy tale, and contains a bonus 5-page comic that provides a little background to After Hours (The Edge Effect). You do not need to read this to get the best out of After Hours, but it's a nice little addition.
As pristinely beautiful as a snowstorm, as deadly, as chilling. File next to Becky Cloonan’s morbid, unresolved, wonderful fables. File prominently, file with pride.”

It's crucial to our success that we reach as many people as possible! But you should also get something out of it. If we reach 400 retweets of this tweet, every backer at every level will get a 5-page PDF of The Edge Effect, in addition to all other project rewards. (The Edge Effect can also be found as part of The Witching Hour).
ACHIEVED: At £3,800, we're going to upgrade the print job on the book to match The Witching Hour. That means we'll include end papers, and metallic foiling.
At £4,500, each print order will come with a constellation-themed mini-print by Robin! The art will be included in the pdf for digital backers.
This breakdown represents the cost of running the Kickstarter to its initial goal, making and shipping the books and rewards. There may be some variation in the shipping figure, depending on the geographical split of orders. Incidentals include fun things like labels, book mailers, protective sleeves, the bookmarks, and bookplates.
Robin has been writing and illustrating creator-owned comics for close to a decade. She has worked in collaboration with studios such as Image, and releases the majority of her work through independent channels. She has received nominations from the British Comic Awards, and is an active member of the community. She was a contributor to Image’s 24 Panels. She enjoys baking, reading, tabletop RPGs, and long walks (with or without a beach).
Risks and challenges
No project comes without risks. We are, however, doing everything possible to minimise them. The art for this book is almost complete, with the exception of any additional content prompted by stretch goals. Our printer, Comic Printing UK, is notoriously reliable, and did an amazing job printing the book for The Witching Hour Kickstarter campaign.
Backers will be sent regular progress updates. If any delays do occur, all participants will be updated through Kickstarter and social media.
It should be noted that all UK projects are currently susceptible to some level of risk from Brexit. In the event of a no-deal Brexit, orders to the EU would likely be subject to customs charges. Like orders from elsewhere in the world, these would be the responsibility of the backer. Parcels will be marked with the value of the goal selected. There may be some resulting delay in packages making their way through customs.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
