Exotechnology Database / Milky Way Galaxy / Intelligent Species / Chila

Chila are a race of diminutive, intelligent mammal-like aliens. They are one of the first alien species to formally ally itself with the Exotechnology Corporation and they have begun the process of integrating themselves within our society.

Physically they resemble Terran chipmunks. The most obvious visible differences are their coloration, their slightly larger size, and their six limbs. They range from 3 inches (7.62 centimeters) to 8 inches (20.32 centimeters) in height, but most seem to stay at a steady 6 inches (15.24 centimeters) once they achieve adulthood.

Chila are extremely quick studies and can learn skills at rates much faster than their contemporary human counterparts. This does not level the playing field though: male Chila have a lifespan of around 4 years and female Chila have a lifespan of 8 years. It is unlikely we will ever see a Chila with the education equivalent to a doctorate unless one devotes most of its life to attain it with almost no time to utilize it.

These frenetically short lifespans have kept their race stymied in near stone-age technology and environment for several hundred generations. They have only recently encountered alien civilizations when the Kingdom acquired their world and facilitated their removal due to the abundant resources found therein (see file Milky Way / Events / Chila Removal ). After a favorable encounter with the initial survey team (see file Milky Way / Events / Grand Melee of 2046) the remnants of the tribal Chila government contacted the Exotechnology Corporation through a Kingdom proxy. Their entire remaining civilization has been relocated to our corporate Lunar headquarters. Now they have availed themselves to human knowledge and technology to uplift themselves and better serve the corporation.

Historically Chila males have been warriors and the females have been their leaders. This has proven to be a social constant. Most of the existing males have enlisted themselves for security and survey teams while their females have sought out administrative and management roles. Both sexes are noted for being extremely quick to anger and just as easy to start a fight at the slightest provocation.

The rest of the entries on this will relay the history of the Chila, mating practices, and most importantly protocol to avoid conflict while on the job and off. Despite their cute appearance, squeaky voices, and diminutive stature personnel should always keep this in mind: Chila consider themselves to be a warrior race and now they have access to firearms.

There will be plenty of examples of aliens of around 3 feet in the core book.

While they look like chipmunks they definitely aren't on the inside! Their brains and genetic structure are significantly different from what you'll find on Earth. And they definitely don't sound anywhere near human-like.

They do have issues intimidating creatures that haven't heard about their reputation.

While this is a fun idea, you might want to consider upping their height to like three feet or something. Something the size of a chipmunk is hard to imagine having more intelligence than say... a chipmunk. That is if it's not in a cartoon, also at that size their vocal capacity would be rather diminished.

If not this, I suspect that in my campaign they'll be undergoing aggressive genetic tinkering/therapy with a generation being as short as it is.
