Character Creation

Posted by Richard James Errington (Creator)

Greetings all backers and interested parties alike!

Throughout the kickstarter I will be posting updates like these highlighting a different part, feature, or species from the game. Some of these will be viewable to everyone and some will only be for our backers.

This update will introduce you to the Kingdom Character creation system:

--------------------------------------------------

Character Creation: Players’ roll randomly for their characters. Or a GM can assign a certain number pool which they can utilize.

They roll three D6 (Six sided die) six times and are able to drop their lowest score. If they don’t like their roll they can give up their previous score but must stick with their re-rolls.

There are 5 main abilities that these scores are assigned to: Strength, Intelligence, Ingenuity, Charisma, Dexterity. These then influence other rolls and defenses in-game.

After this step players can assign ranks into skills. Every rank represents a D6 they can roll for their skill checks. Starting characters can only assign up to 6 ranks in any skill. They can later through game-play increase their skills and gain skills not initially available.

Players get their Intelligence plus Ingenuity plus 10 points as their initial Skill point pool.

Example Skills: Biology, Firearms, Melee, Martial Arts, Technology, Improvisation, Persuasion, Piloting, Perception, Athletics, Empathy, Diplomacy, Parkour, Vitality, and Luck.

Skills determine what sort of role that character has in their party. There are no set classes, players are free to mix and match what they feel would work best for their concept.

Players then have four defenses and their hit points (HP).

Ranged Defense: equals Dexterity plus one more point for every three ranks of Athletics.

Melee Defense: equals Strength plus one more point for every three ranks of Martial Arts. Then whenever they have a melee weapon on hand they can one more point for every three ranks of Melee.

Mental Defense: equals Intelligence plus Ingenuity plus one more point for every three ranks of Empathy.

Social Defense: equals Charisma plus Intelligence plus one more point for every three ranks of Persuasion and/or Diplomacy.

Hit Points: equals Strength plus one more point for every three ranks of Vitality.

These different defenses and their uses will be covered in a future update.

After this stage equipment, weapons, background, and more needs to be decided, but this covers the bare bones of character creation.

Thank you all for your interest and your support!
