WHAT IS NODE?
The world is connected but the people are not. We have lost the means to share common ground, get to know new people, and are lacking ways to understand our backgrounds and experiences. Are we asking the wrong questions? We need to break more ice! That’s what NODE is all about - a game for building meaningful relationships. Skip the small talk and make real connections! NODE is a fun ambiance game that can be played in many different settings, within the work environment or with friends.
NODE ships with 52 beautiful playing cards and is ideally played among 3-6 people, aging 14+.
HOW DO YOU PLAY NODE?
Set-up: Each player starts with 5 random cards in hand. The cards feature insightful and fun questions and have colored half-nodes at their edges. The starting NODE card, a stack of additional cards with more questions and the black bullshit card are placed on the table.
Let’s create nodes: Clockwise players place their cards on the table and read out the question displayed on it. But be careful! Players can only place a card if it they create nodes. To create a node, the card’s colored half-nodes have to match with the ones of all adjacent cards. Cards can thereby only be placed in the same direction as the other cards (no vertical-horizontal matching, no upside-down placed questions).
Whenever a player cannot place a card on the table, she has to take a new card from the card stack and add it to her hand. So, the fewer cards you have in your hand the harder it gets!
This is a no-bullshit game: At any time, if the players feel someone is not answering a question truthfully or the answer is too superficial, the player to the right of the responder is allowed to throw in the black bullshit card in order to request a second, more insightful answer.
All good things come to an end: The player who first has used all her cards to create meaningful nodes on the table, ends the game and becomes the group’s reigning NODE-maker!
WHO IS NODE FOR?
NODE is designed for everyone who believes in the power of human connections and wants to make the world a place full of meaningful relationships that help to overcome prejudices and build more empathy. For example:
- Teams that want to break more ice and bridge diversity before launching and while working on kick-ass projects
- Workshop facilitators who want to make participants feel less awkward when getting to know each other
- Teachers who want to spark interactions among their students
- Friends who want to have fun while getting to know each other even better or bringing different circles of friends together
- ... and many more!
We hope that NODE is not just played in offices, co-working spaces and living rooms, but in the most unexpected locations and situations!
THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT
The game encourages players to learn not only about the knowledge of others players but also about their beliefs, preferences and things they are sensitive to. Questions have been designed to create an atmosphere conducive to confidence and where everybody can feel free to speak his mind.

MAKING NODE A REALITY
During the past months, we have worked hard to make NODE a fun and meaningful experience. From the initial idea to the start of the campaign we have run through countless gameplays, various more or less aesthetic designs and hundreds of questions. Now we need your support to make NODE a reality. So if you believe in the power of human connections and want to make the world a place full of meaningful relationships, become a NODE-maker and back our game!
In the meantime we will make NODE even greater so you get the most fun and insightful questions. We will organize further workshops to select the best content and are also always open for new card suggestions. Powerful nodes can only be build together!
"This is a simple game, and at its core, it aims to bring us closer to the people around us, by connecting in person!"

Risks and challenges
This is our first Kickstarter campaign and we are conscious about possible issues that can occur in the production process, printing and packaging. Even if our team has experience in supply chain management and graphic design production, there may be production interruptions beyond our control. Our team has six people with dedicated responsibilities; the financial, production and distribution side of the project are already working and ensuring a successful delivery on time.
We promise to engage and communicate transparently and regularly with our backers throughout the project!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
