Welcome back everyone! This is the first expansion kickstarter for the HC SVNT DRACONES tabletop miniature line! For those of you who are unfamiliar, this line of modular, customization tabletop anthro miniatures was initially funded right here on kickstarter and allows you to mix and match dozens of components to create unique looks to represent your anthropomorphic heroes in HC SVNT DRACONES or any other urban/scifi setting you'd like to use them in. The store is live and running great, and our first round of funding gave us a wonderful selection of initial options.
But it's time to grow! We really wanted to get unique body shapes like taurs and laterals (HSD-speak for non-humanized shapes) into the initial launch, but the funding just wasn't there after all the other launch costs were covered. So this time, now that the store is already in operation, we're focusing primarily on that. When this kickstarter completes, we aim to provide at least four individual heroic quadrupedal characters, and with a little extra effort, integrate them as tauric lower body options for the existing HSD miniature line too!
There are 4 bodies on the line for this particular kickstarter: a horse, a tiger, a dog, and a komodo dragon. Each will have a default outfit (shown) and a posed and non-posed option. Non-posed will be much like you see here: standing at ease, which works well if you have plans for a specific base or want to make sure they take up a set amount of room on a table. Posed will be dramatic. Running, leaping, turning, or otherwise mid-action. For this particular kickstarter, this is the primary goal, and where we'll be setting the funding point. It's a modest beginning, but easily achievable, and stands the highest chance of making sure you backers succeed at getting what you're supporting. But, as additional incentive, we're also tossing in a special sculpt just for backer rewards: Elysium Winters, the swallow-tailed kite shown below, who will be cast in resin for a large array of backer levels.
This is the first stretch goal, but I encourage you to think of it as part of the primary funding goals (it would be, in fact, but I've split it off to help keep each stage achievable). What we'll do here is take the funded sculpts (the horse, lizard, dog and cat) and scale and edit them to allow them to seam as lower bodies for the large selection of available torsos already present in the HSD miniature line. This will allow you to create tauric lower bodies in both static and dynamic poses, as well as effectively increasing the existing HSD miniature line by a multiplicative amount. What's more, we'll add a serpent-like lower body here for naga characters as well!
With taurs in place, this stretch goal will add another outfit choice to the funded models in this expansion, focusing around seaming more naturally with the existing model line. Most of the torso options that currently exist in the HSD line are armored, so we'll build similar armor here so the look can continue across the entire body. Naturally, these new outfits will apply to both the tauric lower body option and the non-morphic options. And as a bonus, we'll create a second version of the naga tail that works for shark characters too!
This stretch will grant a second dynamic pose choice to the line, likely centered around lying down, so you can have tauric or non-morphic characters who are seated or at rest. And just to make sure everyone can take a load off, we'll also add some casual poses to the currently existing biped line, like arms at ease, weapons slung, and gestures!
At this stage, we'll release a nude outfit option for the currently existing biped line and the line funded here, in male, female, and neutral. This is a great way to give people with sculpting skill a clean slate to work from if you want to design armor or outfits for yourself, or just perfect your pattern painting skills.
At this stage, we'll include a new reward body to add to the line. This deer is a Progenitus Savior officer, and aside from being a great pre-posed mini, she'll also get the tauric treatment and a collectors card. This reward will be automatically included in all the backer rewards at the $120 and above. I know, the audio says 160. Don't listen to that guy. Listen to me. $120.
Risks and challenges
As a followup project, there is very little risk associated with this kickstarter. The HSD miniature line already exists and is functioning fine, all we're doing here is collecting funds to help expand it. 3D printing is expensive and the profit margin on it is low. If we have to wait for sales to fund these expansions, it'll be years between them. Kickstarter helps keep things moving at a good pace, and lets us involve you, the buyers, along the way.
Nothing critical about our development process is changing for this kickstarter, so the major logistical issues have already been solved. The final products will be integrated into the existing HSD line and you'll be able to use them with the modular system whenever you want once it's done!
Fulfillment is going to involve a new step this time around which is a little experimental. We'll be splitting shipping so that EU backers can get their rewards from a local EU site rather than here in the states, so they wont have to pay import fees. This should result in a cheaper, faster, and easier reward experience for European union backers, but it's also the first time we've tried it, so there may be a few bumps.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
