Every year, seniors at King Kekaulike High School complete a senior project that challenges them to heighten their understanding of a chosen topic, get involved in the community, and represent their school. For my senior project I am coordinating a Japanese cultural festival at the KKHS quad and cafeteria on November 17th from 6 to 9 p.m. I am planning on having live entertainment ranging from taiko and Okinawan drumming, to martial arts and traditional Japanese dancing. There will also be food, drink, game, and craft booths at the festival. The main purpose of this event is to have our school interact with the community and to showcase the unique traditions of the Japanese culture.
The money that is donated will be used to cover overhead costs that include: decorations, advertisements, and materials for craft booths. Any excess funds received will be donated to tsunami relief efforts in Japan.
Risks and challenges
The main risk, is that there will not be a good turnout at the event. To avoid this, I am doing my best to advertise so that as much of the Maui community is involved as possible. .Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
