Who are the Lords of Xulima?

Greetings All!

It’s high time for an update to let you know that we are still hard at work on Lords of Xulima. Although we are behind schedule, development continues at a good pace and we are making a lot of advances and additions to the game.

We expect to have the beta complete and ready by the end of March. One month after that, provided there are no major problems, we will release Lords of Xulima to the world.

The development

The development of Lords of Xulima can be as dangerous as trying to steal a gold chest from the Fire Stone Guardians

The four main story arcs are finished and we even have the final cut-scenes of the game wrapped up. All of the maps are complete. Xulima ended up with 15 distinct regions, 5 villages and 30 dungeons. We are now working on balancing all the different game mechanics including combat, abilities, classes, etc… We have also included new types of traps, enemies and puzzles. We’ve also completed development on the Cursed Hounds which are terrorizing the forests and roads of Xulima.

Also stalking the lands of Xulima, the Four Sisters, witches whose names are Arwinzel, Yoranwa, Wendofel and Vilowia. Maybe you’ll be able to avoid them entirely and continue on your mission, but we’re sure you’ll be curious to find out what they are hiding in their dark lairs.

The Hall of Heroes is already finished and we are anxious to see how many of you will be able to solve the mystery of the 20 statues.

It’s also now possible to sail to Varas Talak, provided, of course, you know the exact course to use to reach those enchanted isles.

The Lords of Xulima

And now, we are pleased to present, the Lords of Xulima: These are the nine gods; the creators of the world and all that exists. They are each very different and as such are unable to truly understand each other.

They are:

Looking very good! Excited about this game!

      @Talon: Thanks!

We estimate that if you want to discover all the secrets and unveil all the content you can easily spend 100 hours playing Lords of Xulima.
The continent is huge, and now that all the maps are finished we are going to draw the world map, which is included with all versions of LoX (digital or physical). We hope we can show it to you in the next update.

@Tyler: Why do you think so?

In a month, more or less, we will have the full beta version available. All the backers who pledged for the "Beta Player Edition" reward (or higher) will be able to play it.
We don't know yet how long the game will be in "beta status", it depends on the feedback, the balancing issues and a lot more of things. We want to polish the game as much as we can before releasing it.

I really have to admit that despite Tides of Numenera, Pillars of Eternity and D:OS, Lords of Xulima is one of the few projects that find me absolutely mesmerized. Although I can't exactly point out what it is, I'm getting various good vibrations from the game's presentation, finding so many aspects reminding me of why I love RPG's.
Really looking forward to the release.

Probably also best decision to do a release at that date anyways because Jan/Feb was packed with RPGs. After that Shadowrun next week only Divinity is directly in reach. So it's great that Xulima will fill the gap. :)

I think some people are understandably confused because many Kickstarters are literally just a concept when they run their campaign. As others have stated that wasn't the case here. The game was mostly complete already and they just needed some extra funding to just polish it up and add some features. They probably could have released already even but then some things would have had to be cut.

At any rate I don't think it's being rushed at all. It's a good idea to be mindful of the presentation of a Kickstarter project and check out the videos and read the text and so forth. If you see mainly concept art then of course it will take a while but if you see media from the actual game then it's probably much further along.

I'm really interested to play this game, but I can wait also, so please only release it if you think it is ready for us. :-) This doesn't mean of course that you are allowed to be lazy now... :-P

The game was already 70% finished when this Kickstarter started, and is said to have "More than 60 hours of true role playing experience." Not sure how this could be considered 'rushed.' Everything looks/sounds beautiful.

@Tyler: What do you mean with that? I don't know what happened with Legends of Dawn.

From my understanding a lot of the game was already done when the team went for crowdfunding. I'm really looking forward to it.

Wow! Looking great! I love the Lord's picts.
Loking forward to the game. I am pretty sure it is going to be worth waiting for.
Thanks to all the Numantian team.

@Tyler: I assume by that you mean you think they're rushing the release. What makes you say that?

Sighs getting that "Legends fo Dawn" feeling on this kickstarter. Really thinking my money is being wasted again.
