$25K Mini-goal reached! New Reward! And The Impious Princes!

New Reward : Special Beta Player Edition!

Many people have requested BETA access to the game but have said that the tier for this reward is more than they can afford to contribute at this time. We would like to clarify that the $100 tier not only gets you access to the BETA version, but also allows you to participate in the design of the game as you will be in direct contact with the developers and we will be sharing with you many in depth details regarding Lords of Xulima.

That said, we have decided to create a new level for all of those who want to play Lords of Xulima before everyone else. The new $45 reward tier includes access to the BETA version and access to the BETA forums where you will be able to share your opinions and feedback. Of course, this reward also includes all of the backer rewards from the previous tiers, including the Bronze Medal in the credits. All rewards above $45 will also now include BETA access. We hope you enjoy it!

$25K Mini-goal Reached!

We are pleased to announce that we are now half way to our fourth goal. Thank you once more for your support! Thanks to you, day after day Lords of Xulima is advancing through goal after goal.
And now… Just as is likely to happen in RPGs when you’re trying to make a long and dangerous journey through a wild and uncharted area, we’ve stumbled across a random encounter!
Often these are with dangerous enemies, sometimes they happen with friendly characters, and on rare occasions one may even encounter a special event. Now that we have reached this mini-goal, we are going to add some new elements to give more color and variety to random encounters in Lords of Xulima, including a new special enemy. We are doing this to thank you for all of your support.
Here’s what we have in store:

The Cursed Hounds
Due to the fact that they look like common hounds from far away, some think they are animals. In reality they belong to the powerful demon race. In the beginning, they only inhabited the volcanic region of Vilak, but when the Lords of Xulima abandoned the Earth, these terrible beings spread out across the continent. There are not many of them and it is very rare to see one, but if you hear their terrible howling, you’d better stay away. It is said that these beasts can smell magical objects and that after they devour their victims they carry the objects back to their leader, Arraz Gul, who lies atop a mountain of such treasures. Nobody knows where their lair is found, and if they did, what person would be fool enough to enter?

Can you brave the elements?
There are many dangers that you'll encounter on your travels through Xulima, including the very climate itself. If it’s raining and you hear the rumbling of thunder, be careful, because you might be struck by lightning. In the snowy lands of the north you may be in danger of being buried by an avalanche, and there is equal danger in the arid areas of the south where you can find yourself wandering through the desert for hours, chasing a mirage. The most dangerous area of all, without doubt, is the volcanic lands of Vilak. Take care of the noxious gas vents and the minor but deadly eruptions that can occur without notice as the land itself seems to boil from the pressure below. All of these dangers can be avoided by a good explorer.

And the fauna…
It’s never advisable to step on a poisonous snake or walk through a leech filled marsh. The small animal life of Xulima can be very dangerous, unless your explorer knows where to step.

Hmm… Something is shining in the hollow of that trunk…
It’s not uncommon to find gold coins or even magical objects hidden beneath rocks, in the hollows of an old stump or even buried underground. People are untrusting by nature and when they have something of value they often try to hide it from envious eyes. A good thief knows where to find these types of treasures.

These berries aren't bad at all…
It’s not valuable or precious, but finding food when you are out in the wilderness, far from a village, can be the difference between life and death. A good explorer can help you find sustenance.

If you’re really hungry, maybe it’s time to kill a rat?
An explorer with the hunting talent can capture small animals to increase your food supplies. And…

One more surprise…
We can’t tell you anything more about this; we want you to experience it as a surprise when you’re playing! What do you think? We love to hear your opinions, all comments are welcome!

Who are the Impious Princes?

In a recent update we talked about the 4 main story-arcs that make up the main plot of Lords of Xulima. One of the four is called The Impious Princes.

As they make up part of the main story and we don’t want to include and spoilers here, we’re just going to share a little information about these powerful characters from Lord of Xulima. While the vast majority of humans inhabit the great continent of Rodinia and only know of Xulima through legend and lore, on Xulima there is a similar situation where those who inhabit the smaller landmass know nothing of the existence of a continent far across the Great Sea where the majority of their brethren govern lands more extensive than they could ever dream of.

On Xulima there exists a line of kings whose lineage stretches far back into the past. The last of these kings was Artherion, also called the Blessed One, as he was well loved by the Lords of Xulima, especially Alnaet, the Lord of Light and Life. So it was that Artherion, wise among the wise, received the blessings of the Xulnari and was granted a very long life. But when the Lords of Xulima abandoned the earth, Artherion disappeared, and his four sons took control of Xulima, each one controlling part of the continent.

The reign of the Princes will be remembered as one of the most dark and terrible periods in the long history of Xulima, thanks to the profane acts of those who came to be known as the Impious Princes. The four princes were named: Darthenos the Beastmaster, Ovengel the Tormenter, Nengorth the Silent and Khornil the Enchanter. You can see them depicted here in this beautiful and dark illustration that was drawn for us by the talented Spanish artist Pablo Ramos:

Our Graywalker buddies recently released a pretty cool update about the stylish, quirky NPCs you'll be able to recruit. We each have our favorites, but take care to not let them fall in battle or you'll have to carry on the war without them. Speaking of the war, Dreamlords Digital hasn't given up; keep an eye out on their future plans, which might include extra perk for returning backers.

In regard to 'good and bad' being subjective: this is exactly why I love The Witcher so much! Glad to hear moral ambiguity being a big part of LoX!

      @M.S.S: Thanks!
In Lords of Xulima, the line between good and bad is very thin. When you finish the game, please, come back and tell us who is in your opinion good and who is bad, it can be a very interesting discussion.

@Talon: Thank you very much. Pablo will work on some more beautiful illustrations for Lords of Xulima. People who has pledge for the exclusive wallpapers ($40 or more) will receive some more amazing illustrations like this one.

Fantastic update as always. I want this game more and more with every update! Pablo is an amazing artist.

This update is sexy. And I mean like, all of it. At first I didn't keep tabs on this game for the storyline, as I look for good gameplay in an RPG first and foremost. But I'm gradually starting to dig it.

Are the Impious Princes recruiting? I'd much rather work for them than the God of Dreams ;D Unless the God of Dreams looks even more badass.
