Welcome to the Kickstarter for The Noticeboard, a tabletop RPG with components that can be used as a tool for DMs/GMs.
- 3 games in one
- Components can be used as props or tools for d20 systems including Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder etc.
- High-quality, tarot-sized cards
- Easy to learn
- Gives people confidence and experience with DMing/GMing
- Develops improvisational skills
- Encourages collaborative storytelling and roleplay
- A great way for children to learn how to play d20 systems
What's in the box?
The game is formed of quest and hunt cards with story hooks written on the front and instructions for the DM/GM on the back; a set of d20's and meeples, and a deck of location cards that are used during the adventurer's downtime.
In this game, players take on the role of adventurers travelling from town to town completing quests. Players win by becoming the most successful and renowned adventurers in the land.
One of the unique features of this project is that there are many ways you can play The Noticeboard:
Head to Head
2-4 players run a party of 4 heroes and compete to become the most successful adventuring party in the realm.
2-6 players take their characters into a troubled village and aim to clear the noticeboard of quests within five days. Trouble is, this place is plagued with problems and new quests are added to the board each day.
2-6 players pit their wits against a rival party controlled by the DM/GM. Who will be victorious? And what will you do to stop the other group?
The game started out as a prop we wanted to use for our DND campaign. After playing The Witcher, we wanted to incorporate a noticeboard into our game. We loved the idea of the freedom it would give our players and the challenge it would give us to respond to their choices. Fast-forward to today, we succeeded in making our DND prop and in the process, created a fantastic roleplaying game that everyone can enjoy.
One of the things that makes The Noticeboard unique is that it can be played using characters from your current tabletop RPG campaigns. This game is also a great way to establish a party during session zero or even as a tool for developing character backstories. Simply play the game and let the story-telling begin.
For us, it has meant we could play shorter games (because sometimes adult life gets in the way of day-long sessions) using the characters we have grown to love from our current campaign without sacrificing those, "remember when..." moments.
One of our favourite things that we discovered about this game early on is the replayability. No matter how many times you choose the same quest, no one plays it the same way twice. Different stories emerge, dice rolls dramatically change the outcomes, it's fantastic to watch and experience.
The cards aim to provide prompts and provoke storytelling. If the adventure you're running leads away from the narrative set out by the card, just go with it.
Below you will find the seven basic steps for playing Head to head mode (video coming soon):
Number of Players: 2-4
Objective: The aim of the game is to become the most successful and renowned party in the land. Each player runs a party of 4 adventurers and takes them from town to town completing quests and earning rewards.
Before you start: The game is played over a pre-determined number of settlements. Each settlement lasts one day and is formed of steps 2-7 (below). The recommended number of settlements is between 3-5. The more settlements you visit, the longer the game lasts.
We are a really small and really new company so Kickstarter was the only way we could see our dream becoming a reality. The money we are trying to raise will go directly towards the production costs for the game as well as refining the designs of the cards. We believe our prototype demonstrated in this campaign already looks really good but we want to polish it even further and wanted the opportunity to add more items to the box in the form of stretch goals.
What is Wisdom Save Media?
We are a team of people that want to bring tabletop gaming to anyone. In our last project, we published our first official book along with other rewards and had it all produced and dispatched 2 months ahead of our initial deadline date. We had a load of fun doing it and the feedback we had was incredible. We wanted to continue our quest this time by producing our first tabletop game. We’ve had the idea for this game, rattling around in our world-building noodles for a little over 2 years now. It’s taken a lot of hard work, play-testing, and prototyping to build up to this campaign and we are really excited to finally say its ready.
Hope you enjoy the campaign, don't forget to say hi to us in the comments (we like to get to know our backers) and follow us on Twitter and Instagram.
Risks and challenges
After the last Kickstarter, we feel confident we can deliver this project on time. A lot of the hard work has been done and through ordering and developing prototypes we have worked out any possible kinks ahead of time in terms of the manufacturing process.
We do however want to tighten up some of the design aspects, like making the parchment pieces/fonts look more authentic. We don't feel this would cause too much of a problem but we are very aware that our perfectionist nature has the potential to cause problems. But don't worry, our project manager will see to it that we deliver on time, if not early again!
