Ever wonder where museums came from? Appearing in Renaissance Europe, the 'cabinet of curiosities' is an early ancestor of the modern museum.
A Cabinet of Curiosities or - wunderkammer - stored and exhibited a wide variety of objects, with a particular leaning towards the rare, eclectic and esoteric. Modern terminology would categorize the objects included as belonging to natural history (sometimes faked with objects like dragon's blood or unicorn horns), geology, ethnography, archaeology or historical relics and antiquities.
Working around this cool subject matter, creating/collecting pieces for a personal version of a wunderkammer became exciting! It took months of work but wanting to create a unique art deck it was well worth the time spent.
Inside the Cabinet of Curiosities art deck is a complete series of 54 fully illustrated and imagined objects inspired by the works and personal collections of naturalists and explorers.
Each card from this deck is a juxtaposition of elements such as mechanisms coupled with an organic look that inexplicably forms a truly unique and obscure object.

You can help make this Cabinet of Curiosities playing card deck a reality. It's in your hands how this dream can be materialized. Sharing this project with your friends is a huge help that can get us closer to our goals!
All artworks are complete with just a few tweaks to be made. Our personal timeline for this is to have all rewards to be delivered by May 2018. We're just looking at getting those stretch goals to immediately start production. Here's a rough rundown.
Designs will be sent and printed by NPCC this February. They will also do the fulfillment so that will be a good thing since they're great with that. We have a pretty good relationship with them and have seen a fast production on their projects and their quality looks great. We also choose them for their manageable production costs and flow which we needed for this project. The cards should be ready within March and since postal services are not hampered by the holidays anymore around April this should alleviate problems for the transit of parcels globally.
We have made enough wiggle room for a June shipping but our personal timeline is to get everything shipped starting April to May.

Risks and challenges
We have created a lot of decks and personally created 4 projects and this will be our fifth. Having said that we're no strangers to delays and the last two of our projects is facing these problems but are currently on their last manufacturing phase and are slated to be shipped in the next months ahead. We have learned to keep backers updated for all our projects and we will do this and be as transparent as we can going forwards. With a new manufacturer specifically chosen for this project and a more experienced team on our part we are extremely confident in our supplier and in our goal to make this our personal best turn around for Cellar Window from funding to shipping. We will try to beat our June shipping estimate! All the designs in Cabinets of Curiosities are finished and ready to be sent to NPCC for printing like we stated and they will be handling the manufacturing and fulfillment of the decks too which makes it a very streamlined process.
