Faire Child Weatherwear
Our garments invite children to immerse in their most important pursuits: making and playing in the outdoors. We support parents and educators in fostering curiosity and care for the natural world, without interruption from the weather. Faire Child pants, jackets and suits are completely waterproof, free from harmful chemicals, made in Canada, 100% recycled content and recyclable.
Not to mention, they are downright good-looking.
Our fabric is a real point of pride; highly durable, soft on the skin, breathable, and safe for human and environmental health. It’s also easy to care for; water and dirt repelling, machine wash, low-heat dry, and even iron safe. The structure of the fabric remains intact after repeated wear and washing, continuing to be waterproof and breathable. Our fabric is imported from German made company, Sympatex, and our garments are manufactured in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Kickstarter Faire Child Almanac
The Faire Child team has created an Almanac which will ship out with every Kickstarter pre-order. The Almanac was designed to perfectly fit in the Raincoat pocket and can be filled with all manner of sketches and observations.
Classic outerwear styles of the early 1900s inspired us to create timeless garments with exceptional fit for a child’s form and busy play. From a French sportsman’s jacket to a multi-pocket workman’s coverall, these vintage pieces ensured ease of movement and impeccable attention to detail. In form and function, Faire Child Makewear has embraced time-tested design, and merged it with the advantages of modern textiles and manufacturing.
About The Creator
Faire Child Founder, Tabitha Osler has spent the last ten years studying and teaching fashion design where a distinct focus on slow fashion and environmental and social responsibility emerged. Being a new mother, Tabitha is also passionate about outdoor time for her little one, Charli. Blending these two passions, Tabitha set out to create a collection of Weatherwear that would not only inspire children to establish a closer relationship with the natural world but that would be technically cutting edge, endlessly reusable and made in her hometown of Halifax. Enter Faire Child.
We believe in growing beyond an old economy based on extraction and waste, towards a regenerative economy, by advancing frameworks that value healthy ecosystems and social equity. We hold our company accountable for how our garments are made and where they end up. We do this by using the best in eco-textiles and through our take-back program.
Take Back Program
Faire Child Outerwear is made from 100% Recycled PET bottles and since it is also 100% Recyclable we want to make darn sure they don’t end up in a landfill. So instead of putting your Faire Child coat on the curb with the rest of your plastic recyclables, you send it back to us, and we take care of the rest. Our team will decide to either sell it to another family at a discounted rate or ship it away to be lovingly deconstructed. Eventually, your Faire Child garment is recycled into something brand new at a factory operating on 100% renewable energy. Presto – we just closed the loop and diverted this resource from ending up in a landfill. Feels good, right?
Each piece is cut and constructed in Dartmouth Nova Scotia, using manufacturing processes and techniques developed for serious adult matters, like the fishing industry. The seams are taped for optimal waterproofing.
Shipping and Handling
Kickstarter does not currently have a feature to add appropriate taxes to our product, so we've incorporated it into the shipping cost. Please see the below chart. When you choose a reward you will see this price reflected in the shipping cost. Free Shipping for Canadians!
By helping fund Faire Child Makewear you are helping to get our business off the ground and securing our success in a very competitive industry. You are also bolstering our message of inspiring children to make and play outdoors. We hope you get excited about our endlessly reusable model, too. We are so thankful you have taken the time to read about Faire Child and we hope it made your day a little nicer.
Risks and challenges
In fashion there are always small chances of delays in production, but we’ve done a ton of work to minimize the risk already. We’ve established a wonderful relationship with our manufacturer here in Dartmouth, where our slot for production and order lead times are confirmed. Our manufacturer has decades of experience and we feel super confident we can ship your pieces to you in February. If there are any glitches along the way, we will work our hardest to remedy them in a timely fashion and inform you of any delays. Transparency is our goal at all times and we will maintain strong lines of communication with both our manufacturer and clients.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
