About this project
The Basement Show was created in 2008. From 2008 to 2012 we only taped 9 shows. The reasons have varied from other film projects to finding the right host. Like any type of late night show, the host is the key fixture in making the show successful. It wasn't until 2013, as the creator of The Basement Show, I gave some thought of hosting the show. I was also encouraged by the different people that I would meet who had watched past shows and would ask "When are you gonna bring back The Basement show? "
Since I made the decision to host the show we've taped 6 shows and 4 more remain for this season. This have been our best run since the creation of the show in 2008. I'm a huge fan of late night TV since the days of Johnny Carson, David Letterman, Arsenio Hall, and leading up to Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon.
What we've lacked in equipment, thus far, we have made up for in creativity, but as you seek to add higher production value, better equipment is a must! I think seeking a commercial talent like Luenell for our show can bring more attention to us, and give us something to build on going into next season to seek commercial opportunities and grow our show.
Luenell has appeared in 'Borat', 'Katt Williams: American Hustle', Adam Sandler's 'That's My Boy' and on TV shows like 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia', 'The Middle' and 'Californication'. We are this tiny little show, filmed in a BASEMENT in Cincinnati, but Luenell's manager - William Hanford Lee - has seen us, likes us, thinks we have production value and has agreed to put Luenell on the show. How AWESOME is that?
We are operating on no budget so we need to raise the money to bring Luenell to Cincinnati. This includes her fee, plus:
Air Fare $3,500
All money raised is for production of Episode 10 on August 8th, 2013. This includes expense for the show, and equipment such as Canon T3i and wireless mics.
Risks and challenges
Our first challenge is to see that Luenell arrives on the date of August 7th 2013. Knowing that flights can be delayed or canceled, we have a contingency plan. If that were to happen we would work out another date with her management to reschedule taping of the show. As far as it goes with filming and editing the show. I'm an award winning film maker and an editor as well, I have up to three camera operators I can use if something was to happen to our lead camera person.
