About this project
Lark Adventurewear is the first infant activewear clothing brand. After having my son Vyan, we would spend so much time outdoors, go on walks in the park, or local hikes. I would stay dry in my workout gear, but he would be damp in his normal cotton baby clothes. I found out that most activewear in the adult market utilizes synthetic fabric and chemical finishes that aren’t safe for babies. Active parents and babies love spending time outside in a carrier, stroller, or walking, but there is currently no activewear for infants that is safe and keeps babies sweat-free. At night, some babies get overheated and tend to sweat more in their normal cotton clothes and sleep sacks. Lark Adventurewear solves this dilemma so parents can stay active and babies can explore the world around them comfortably.
Lark Adventurewear clothing features easy-open tops and bottom-to-top zippers to make clothing and diaper changes as easy as possible. Our mission is to create fashionable, comfortable clothing for babies so that parents can stay active and babies can explore the world around them. We’ve also taken popular trends from the adult activewear market so that not only is your baby dry and sweat free, but they are also fashionable. We've created samples of our garments and have our initial fabric ordered. Lark Adventurewear has been working with a manufacturer in Los Angeles to create our Spring 2017 line by our expected April 2017 deadline. Our Kickstarter campaign goal of $15,000 will fund our initial production through pre-orders.
I worked with a textile mill to create a proprietary natural wicking fabric that keeps babies dry, comfortable, and safe day and night. My goal was to stay away from the polyester and chemically finished fabrics that are found in the adult workout clothing market. Our fabric is cotton based and uses a special capillary thread that pulls moisture away from a baby's skin.

Pallavi Patil is mom to her active baby boy Vyan. She moved back to Pittsburgh after living in New York and Los Angeles for many years. Before founding Lark Adventurewear, she was a finance and marketing professional.
Lark Adventurewear was an idea that Pallavi had to pursue after she saw no safe clothing solutions that kept babies active and outdoors with their parents. The brand's goal is to create fashionable attire that keeps curious kids comfortable.
When not working on Lark, she can be found experimenting in the kitchen or on a hiking trail with her husband, son, and dog Bodie.
Risks and challenges
There is a chance that there is a delay in production:
There are many moving parts in the production of apparel. From getting our fabric order, dying, printing, and finally cut and sew. We have already developed the garment designs and have our vendors in place, however, unforeseen delays may occur as we are trying to create the highest quality product for our customers/backers.
Prints, Colors, and Designs may not be exactly as drawn in renderings:
As we still adjust and make changes to our colors and prints, there is a chance that the renderings we have shown of our garments are different than what we actually produce in our initial Spring 2017 line. We will keep customers/backers updated of any changes so that they can make educated selections before preorder items are shipped.
