THE BOOK -
SugarPaw wants to learn how to whistle. No matter how hard he tries...nothing happens. Papa Bear says there is a secret hidden in the garden to help him, but all SugarPaw sees are YUCKY vegetables. What is the secret and why is it buried in the vegetable garden?
In this second SugarPaw adventure, Bonnie Whiskers helps him find the answers to the secret hidden in his own backyard.
The HISTORY -
Whistle Beans is the second book in the SugarPaw Adventure series from Award-winning Author VS Grenier. The first book, Babysitting SugarPaw is a Silver Mom's Choice and 2011 Silver Quill Award-winner.
The artwork found inside the series is done by Illustrator and Animator Kevin Scott Collier.
BEHIND THE STORY -
The concepts for the books in the SugarPaw Adventure series are from my own personal life. The first book in the series was based off my childhood and my encounter with a babysitter, who later became a life-long friend and bridesmaid at my wedding over 10 yrs ago!
But where did the idea for Whistle Beans come from you ask?
When I was little, I couldn't whistle. A family friend, Charlie Baker, was one of the best whistlers I knew and I wanted to have a strong whistle like his. I practiced everyday...but never got much out beyond the WHOOSHING sound of air passing my lips. It was the holidays when Charlie shared his secret to a strong whistle with me over a big Christmas Dinner at our house. A memory I cherish to this day!
I have only shared the secret with my three children and now with your support, SugarPaw will share this secret with young readers all over the world in his second children's book adventure, which is also dedicated to the loving memory of Charlie Baker!
THE FUNDS -
The funds raised will go toward the original print run for Whistle Beans. The book will be available in eBook and paperback - and possibly audio or interactive versions if we exceed our goal.
Readers and fans will be able to buy it on my website, at indie online book retailers, my publisher's website (Halo Publishing) and of course at Amazon and Barnes & Noble -- as well as the coolest of your local bookstores.
Now to the fun stuff...

Risks and challenges
This is my third published book and the second book in the SugarPaw Adventure series. The risks seem few, however, you never know what publication challenges are lurking. I've worked with the publisher Halo and illustrator Kevin Scott Collier for over five years.
After the success of the first book in the series, I know we all hope to see the second book in print asap. Kevin Scott Collier has the manuscript and has begun line art for review. The artwork will be completed by the end of this campaign so we can get everything into the publisher for printing right away.
I know the production staff is standing and waiting for the upload. I am also excited as I am Co-chair for the St. George Book Festival and would love to have another book in hand when the festival rolls out October 2014. Many schools are sending requests to have me back again the 2014-15 school year as a speaker during the festival week. How exciting it would be to have a new book to show the kids.
If something does cause a delay, I promise to let you guys know ASAP. You can also follow our progress on the Facebook Fan page and http://SugarPaw.blogspot.com site!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
