The Overpower Mission:
To develop a class based MMO style PvP combat game that offers as much RPG style character progression as possible without any grinding!
Overpower is a medieval 3rd person shooter. The goal is to offer players a skill based MMO style PvP experience that allows players to progress their class without the need to grind for months. Like an MMO game it offers class based progression, allowing players to unlock new abilities, weapons, armor, and eventually more classes. Mix and match abilities and weapons to create unique customizable playstyle within each class!

The starting classes are the Warrior, Ranger, Mage, and Assassin. Each class has access to a variety of abilities called Gems. You can only bring 2 gems into combat at any given time.
Below are just a few of the many gems that each class has:
Execute: The Warrior leaps high into the air dealing massive area damage when he lands. Deals significantly more damage to enemies low in health!
StoneGuard: Unleashes a shield temporarily absorbing damage.
Blood Thirst: Activates Blood Thirst mode for 6 seconds. Quenching the thirst with a kill grants the Warrior a full life heal.
Sonic Slash: Unleashes a magical spinning axe that deals heavy damage to the first target it hits!
Flame Shot: Unleashes a fiery arrow that deals damage and burns enemies over time!
Lifesteal Shot: Unleashes an arrow that deals heavy damage and heals the ranger in return.
Rain of Arrows: Releases a wave of arrows raining down on enemies. Can be cast from very far away!
Net Shot: A shot that temporarily roots enemies in place!
Fire Shield: Unleashes a fiery shield that absorbs the next 2 basic attacks and returns fire damage over time back to the enemy.
Arcane Stasis: Temporarily protects the Mage making them invulnerable to all damage and healing them over the next few seconds.
Arcane Strike: Releases a wave of 3 Arcane Missiles that seek out the closest enemies. This gem can be cast 3 times without a cooldown.
Ice Blast: Releases a wave of cold that damages and slows enemies in a large area around the Mage.
Face Kick: Kicks an enemy in the face. The shock from being kicked in the face stuns enemies briefly.
Slowing Poison: Applies a poison to the next attack which slows enemies and damages them over time. Can be triggered by the Assassin's ranged attack.
Cursed Blades: Curses the Assassin's blades causing the next attack to deal extreme damage. Can be triggered by the Assassin's ranged attack.
Dagger Rain: The Assassin spins in a circle conjuring daggers from the Shadow Realm which damage enemies in the surrounding area.
"Hey wait, why are all the Overpower classes so generic looking?"
From a visual perspective all the Overpower classes are designed to be wearing their "Starting Gear". Equivalent to your level 20 MMO character. We will be adding some really awesome armorsets in the future!
From a gameplay perspective all the Overpower classes are designed to represent the fundamental playstyle mechanics to build the combat system upon. In the future we plan on adding more unique classes with new playstyles!
- Deathmatch: Bloodbath, instant respawn, great way to polish your combat skills!
- Team Deathmatch: Like a Deathmatch, but your buddies got your back!
- Last Team Standing: Round based matches, no respawns until the one team is wiped out. Great Arena practice!
- Control Points: Fight over strategic crystals. Each crystal grants points for your team. At 250 / 500 / 750 points your team gets a buff! First team to 1000 points wins!
- Critter Capture: Capture all 3 critters from the enemy team and safely return them to your base to win the match! Each critter gives you a unique ability so choosing the right one is important!
Felcat: Grants an short burst of high movement speed!
Tortoise: Grants a damage mitigating shield!
Skunker: Releases poisonous gas that damages and slows enemies!
Control Point Buffs:
250 Points: Increased Movement Speed
500 Points: Double HP
750 Points: Double Damage
Each level in Overpower is part of Arkland, a continent ruled by humans in the world of Overpower. Below you can see a rough idea of land and where each level exists.

Our goal with combat has always been to keep it fun and simple. We believe both of these concepts go hand in hand. We want players to immediately get the hang of the gameplay and start "pwning" right off the bat!
In order to achieve this we based the general pacing and movement of our characters on one the greatest FPS there is.. Counter-Strike!
Each class' control scheme is the same. Once you learn one class, switching to a new class will be seamless.
Careful not to confuse simplicity for an easy game. The combat in Overpower rewards position, timing, aiming, baiting, and out-playing your opponents!
Class Abilities: Each class has a bread n' butter ability we call the class ability. This is ability defines their playstyle and can not be substituted. Class abilities have no cooldowns but consume power which is displayed in a purple meter below your health.
These are the four class abilities currently in game:
Warrior Trample: Rushes straight forward in a line stunning the first enemy hit.
Mage Teleport: Teleports the mage a short distance in any direction.
Ranger Tumble: Leap any direction and gain a short burst of movement speed afterward.
Assassin Stealth: Become invisible and gain a short burst of movement speed.
Gems: Gems are unique per class abilities that you can unlock from playing your favorite class!
Although each class has several you may only bring 2 into combat at any given time. These abilities have low cooldowns and will enable you to make those big plays you're itching for!
Attacks:1 Weapon, 3 Attacks: Classes in Overpower each use 1 weapon. This makes identifying your opponent easy!
Each class can perform 3 different attacks with their weapon without any cooldowns. The buttons for each classes attack are the same. This makes it easy to learn the game quickly!
Let's take a look at the Warrior's Attacks:
Primary Attack: Fast and light attack
Secondary Attack: Slow and heavy damage. Hits multiple enemies.
Alternate Attack: Whirlwind! Can't win if you don't spin!
Weapon Passives: Each weapon has a unique passive ability that can significantly alter your personal playstyle!
Let's take a look at some of the Warrior's Axes!
Face Shredder Axe: Every 4th light attack deals double damage!
Ice Runed Axe: Every light attack deals reduced damage but slows enemies!
Beefcake Axe: Each attack on a new target grants the Warrior a stackable shield!
Imperial Axe: Each light attack restores Power, so you can use Trample enemies without limits!
Lore / Story:
All Resources were shared without restraint between all classes of life. Harmony existed for eons and was believed to last eternally but this belief was fractured when The Splinter occurred. ..
The skies parted and lightning cracked. Wind whipped and tore. Oceans crashed and boiled. The ground rumbled and split. Chaos consumed. When the ashes cleared the world was near unrecognizable.
The sky was a darker tinge. The wind blew cold. Oceans rose higher while others dried. The single mass was divided and so were those that still lived.
Separated by vast distances of ocean and land, individual species struggled to find a way to survive on their own. Their salvation was found in mysterious Runes left in the wake of the great disaster. Mystical in nature and limitless in use, every being discovered a unique manipulation of the precious rocks that became keystones to their species existence.
With survival hinging on a limited resource, hostilities quickly grew and war erupted over the Runes, a war that still rages to this day...
We have really awesome plans to make Overpower and incredible PvP experience. Our funding goal represents a baseline level of polish we will add to the game. We want to go above and beyond though to implement some awesome features! That's why we have stretch goals!

We don't have angel investors or prior funding, we are 2 guys that quit our full time jobs to develop something we are incredibly passionate about.
We've all seen games come and go here, even well funded ones...RIP That's why It is important for us to show up with more than idea. We have developed this game as far as we can on our own and now we need Kickstarter's community help to take something good and make it incredible!
About Hydrant Games:
Hydrant Games was formed when Adam and John began collaborating on a shooter project. Adam, a 3d artist by trait, combined with John's extensive programming background proved to be a highly capable duo. Over the last 2 years, along with the help of friends, they have made tremendous progress developing Overpower.
Adam Hensel: Founder / Game Designer / 3D Artist
I grew up in an Alaskan cave with nothing to do but play video games. As I grew into a full size mountain man I became sad that real life was getting in the way of my PvP time. Unable to find a game to fill this niche I began developing Overpower by combining my extensive art background with inspiration from games I love playing!
John Rustle: Programmer
I used to be a Sloth Groomer (past life), but now I’m a veteran Programmer in the games industry. I’ve helped ship 20 games on 10 different platforms over the last 15 years. My love for video games is only surpassed by my love for cats. I was also the brain behind Quake III’s most popular mod, Urban Terror.
Jonathan Kwok: Animator
I face planted into the animation world 7 years ago and have been animating ever since. I've been addicted to games like WoW, Counter Strike, League of Legends, Starcraft, Warcraft, Gunbound, Street fighter, Super Mario, and decided to jump in to support Overpower using my masters in animation and training as a movement wizard!
Frank Hernandez III: Writer
Frank is a Game Designer of 4 shipped titles and a Writer of 7 published novellas. He prefers video games that are flawed but innovative over ones that are polished but common. He also enjoys writing while pro wrestling plays in the background and declares that dark chocolate is the best chocolate.
Timeline / Budget:
Jan 19th 2016: Greenlight / Kickstarter Launch
Closed Beta will begin on Steam shortly after Greenlight. All Play Now! Backers will be emailed out keys as soon as the game has been implemented.
February - April 2016: Closed Beta on Steam as we polish add content and grow the community and playerbase along with your feedback and suggestions!
May 2016: Full featured release on Steam!

Risks and challenges
Like any endeavor, there is always a certain degree of risk involved. We are fortunate to have already developed and prototype Overpower to the very fun playable state that it's in currently. This greatly reduces the risk that the Kickstarter community takes on by supporting our campaign.
With that being said rewards, final release, and early access dates are subject to potentially slide based on the standard trials of game development.
