Hello everyone,

My current estimation is that LBM project kits will start shipping during the first week of November and the products will start shipping in the 3rd week of November. I do apologize because this is slightly behind the original estimate.

I have some good news to cheer you up! The LBM is getting solid copper ports :)

The original design used two plastic ports per speaker. I made the prototypes by hand, forming the shape after heating the plastic in a hot oil bath. I anticipated making a small machine press to form the ports when in production, however it refused to form in the desired shape.

I therefore had to re-think the port manufacturing process and after some experimentation decided to use copper tube. One advantage was being able to get the correct diameter so that only one port is needed per speaker. The other is, it looks really nice!

The pressure required to form the large diameter copper tube to the flare shape is immense, about 3 tonnes, so I built a strong press box from metal and supported the copper tube along most of its length with a tightly toleranced outer support so the copper doesn't deform undesirably.
