Broke-down in Indiana- many bands in & around Grand Rapids, MI use this tank to tour... the show must go on!
Please help us get this show back on the road!
On March 11, 2012 our Thomas B700 bus broke down in route to Austin, Texas for the SXSW music festival. A group of ten local musicians and photographers from West Michigan got stuck in a sticky situation in Lafayette, IN with, amongst other mechanical issues, a broken torque converter/transmission failure. Luckily enough, some new friends in Indiana are letting us store the bus in their driveway while we raise money for repairs.
Cost for repairs and labor to our "home away from home" will be over $2,000. In order to get the bus from its current resting place to a repair shop we also need to get a heavy-duty tow which is not cheap (roughly $200.00 plus $3 per mile). The engine in this mean machine is a Cummins Diesel that is just getting broken in. With regular maintenance these engines will last a life time. So our baby has plenty of life left in her, she just needs a little TLC.
We are humbly trying to raise only a portion of the total costs to get it back on the road via kickstarter. Local musicians across the state of Michigan will also be hosting benefit concerts to help raise money. Any additional funds we raise will be put towards the next project in line for this bus; converting it to run on used vegetable oil.
For all of us, playing music wasn't a dream, it was a priority. To all the people who sarcastically said "good luck", we said thanks, but no thanks. In 2006, with all the money raised and saved from years of playing shows, and every last dollar we could scrounge up out of our savings and pockets, we bought the best means necessary to travel, tour and see the country in: a school bus. Since then we've traveled and toured every year to every corner of the country where we could play a show. In addition to transporting multiple bands, it has been a way for other like-minded and motivated young people to turn big dreams and goals into a reality; moped rallies, weddings, music festivals, etc... Needless to say, the bus has made a huge impact in the local music and art world of Michigan.
