About this project
This is the first expansion for the game Xia: Legends of a Drift System.
Every pledge level includes everything we unlock with Stretch Goals!
We are also happy to offer the NPC: Sellsword V2. This ship is mechanically the same as the original Kickstarter exclusive Sellsword, but with a new paint job, name, and tagline.
I'm happy to announce that you can also now take the helm of the Sellsword's C-37 StarStrider!!! Every Sellsword V2 pledge level now includes a player ship mat - so you can choose to use the Sellsword as an NPC, or a player ship!
The Sellsword V2 Pledge levels include:
- 1 Sellsword V2 Pre-Painted Miniature
- 1 Flight Stand
- 1 Sellsword V2 NPC Card
- 1 Sellsword V2 Rules Card
- 1 Ship Mat
- 1 Ability Card
Roy from Epic Gaming Night has done an awesome overview video of the new expansion content, you can check it out here:
- GTS Mod: Attach these to your engine to increase your minimum rolls – a great way to compensate for poor rolling!
- Economy Board: No longer are short trade routes the easiest way to victory – a quick cash grab here will deteriorate the economy, forcing you to look elsewhere!
- Piercer Mods: – Begin your reign of piracy! No more are merchants impenetrable fortresses; attach Piercers to your weapons to rip through your target's shields!
Xia is a 1-5 player sandbox style competitive space adventure. Each player starts as a lowly but hopeful captain of a small starship. Players fly their ships about the system, completing a variety of missions, exploring new sectors and battling other ships.
Navigating hazardous environments, players choose to mine, salvage, or trade valuable cargo. Captains vie with each other for Titles, riches, and most importantly Fame.
The most adaptive, risk taking, and creative players will excel. One captain will rise above the others, surpassing mortality by becoming Legend!

Be the first! You'll get your copy before any other distribution channels!
Be the help! Ira and I (and many playtesters) have put everything we've got into making this expansion shine, but we can't manufacture the game without your help!
Be informed! We'll have guaranteed regular updates (go ahead and check my previous Kickstarters!) You'll always know just where we're at in the production timeline!
Be recognized! Your name will be printed along with all the other backers on the inside of every box of Xia: Embers of a Forsaken Star! (If you want).
We have distribution warehouses in: US, Canada, EU, Australia, and China.
We're shipping the games by using the Stonemaier Method - shipping games to fulfillment warehouses around the world to pay customs fees & VAT for you - and to make shipping prices as low as possible! We've already done this successfully with our first project Xia: Legends of a Drift System - shipping 3000+ games to backers around the world.
Xia: Embers of a Forsaken Star has been blind tested over 100 times by over 180 amazing playtesters all over the world! They have clock in over 300+ hours played. We've spent months collecting data and refining the game to make it the most polished expansion we possibly can.
These testers have provided incredible feedback, and helped to prune and polish this expansion to what you see today! You can feel confident that everything in the game has been thoroughly playtested and balanced (including all stretch goals!).
My name is Cody Miller. I’m an IT major, husband to an incredible wife, father of three beautiful children, and an avid gamer!
Far Off Games is me - there's no big company, no marketing manager, I do it all! :) However, with this expansion, I was lucky enough to meet up with a fellow gamer, and game designer, Ira Fay. He wondered if he could have a crack at making a solo experience for Xia, and he's been indispensable ever since!
Thank you, fellow gamer, for your support! :)
My name is Ira Fay. I'm a professor of game design, I'm a family man (wonderful wife, two kids), and I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to work with Cody on this Xia expansion.
I love many kinds of games, but as a dad of young kids, I find that solo experiences are often my best chance for some gaming. I've loved Xia since it was first released, and it's been an amazing experience to design with Cody. He generously let me play in his sandbox and shared all his fun toys, and I'm eager for all of you to play too!
Ira Fay is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Game Design at Hampshire College and is the CEO of Fay Games. He previously worked at Electronic Arts (Pogo.com) on many casual games, Z-Axis (Activision) on X-Men 3, Maxis on The Sims 2, and Walt Disney Imagineering on ToonTown Online. He also co-designed three expansions to Agricola.

Risks and challenges
Xia: Embers of a Forsaken Star is my third Kickstarter project. With my first Kickstarter, I successfully shipped over 3000 games to backers all over the world. My second Kickstarter, is currently wrapping up manufacturing and about to ship out to backers (within our projected time frame). I am confident that everything I've learned from my first two projects will make this an even more streamlined process.
Since this is a physical tabletop board game, that means it has to be manufactured, then shipped to you! The primary risks involved are:
-Manufacturing Delays: I have worked with our manufacturing company PandaGM on my previous project. They are a well known and reputable manufacturer. I will work with PandaGM to minimize manufacturing delays, which are often caused by incorrect file preparation for printing, or coloration issues. Since this is my third project I am confident we will overcome any unforeseen manufacturing issues with minimal delays.
-Manufacturing Defects: Panda GM has a 99% guaranteed defect free rate for their products. However, they also account for the 1% of defects by sending me replacement parts. Should you have any issues with your copy, simply let me know and I'll get you replacement parts as soon as possible!
-Shipping Delays: There is always the possibility of shipping delays - I hope to minimize these by having a solid logistics plan in place. I am working with localized distribution centers to have games to you as quickly as possible.
-Shipping Losses: Should your game be damaged or lost in transit, I will replace it or any broken parts at no cost to you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
