March Update! Brazil status!

Posted by Far Off Games (Creator)

Hey Backers! It's been a little while, as there hasn't been much news! :) I've been enjoying a steady stream of posts and pictures of you wonderful people enjoying your copies, and I'm incredibly grateful and humbled to have Xia being enjoyed around the world!! :D We also just got some puppies!!! (Picture at the bottom of the post! :D) So things are going very well here! I continue to work towards my next project Arydia - and look forward to sharing more on that when the time comes!! Ok, here's the update:

Brazil: Update

First, thank you to all backers in Brazil! I know it's very hard to wait while other backers get their copies, and I'm incredibly thankful for your patience and awesome attitudes! I've got a couple updates from VFI Asia and Conclave Editora, the copies have landed at port in Brazil:

Copies are currently in customs at the Port of Santos, in Brazil.
Copies are currently in customs at the Port of Santos, in Brazil.

Currently, the copies are in the Port of Santos, working through customs! In my experience shipping to Brazil, customs can take a while to clear, usually weeks, sometimes, unfortunately, months. Hoping that things go quickly and smoothly, but I don't want to be overly optimistic! :)

Once the copies have cleared customs, they will be trucked to Conclave Editora, our fulfillment company:

After customs, the copies will be shipped to Conclave Editora, in Juiz de Fora.
After customs, the copies will be shipped to Conclave Editora, in Juiz de Fora.

Then finally Conclave Editora will pack and ship your orders out from their warehouse in Juiz de Fora! :)

Again, the postal system in Brazil has, in my experience, taken quite a while - so please be ready for extended shipping times. If you have any questions about the shipment, please let me know and I'll do my best to answer them! :)

Issues / Defects

Ok, just a couple other housekeeping items.

If you're in any other country besides Brazil, you should have gotten your copy by now! If you haven't gotten your copy please let us know either by commenting here, or emailing so that we can find out what the issue is and get you taken care of! :)

      Hey everyone! Just a few quick replies below! I'll be back on to check if there's any new questions later! Cheers, -C

      @Mark Johnson: Haha! :)

      @Mashing: Hehe! We let our boys name them (with some guidance), Sora was chosen because Zealan (oldest boy) wanted a Japanese name, and Sora means "Sky", and my wife's first dog was named Sky (and it being the protagonist of KH made me happy) And Toph is a character from Judah's (2nd boy) favorite TV show, Avatar: The Last Airbender - so everyone wins! :P

      @Nabend: Wow!! I'm so glad you were able to get through the rules and play! We do have some "quick start" rules videos on our webpage, which can be a big help to new players:

      @Ian G.: That's awesome man, haha! A Newfoundland makes for a PERFECT Appa! :P

      @Jacky Daniels: Wow! Thank you so much for the information!! Distribution is a huge undertaking, even in my own native country - and abroad is even more difficult! :) We did have retailer pledges available in this Kickstarter, but perhaps we didn't advertise it well, so I'll try to do better in the next campagin! If you're friend is interested in getting copies, we have partnered with Spiral Galaxy Games as a distributor in Europe, since import fees for retailers are very high if they import from us in the US, we try to help them by having some stock in the EU :)
      I am also thankful for the note about Hunter und Cron! I will keep them in mind moving forward! Thanks again for all the advice Jacky!!

      @Mark O'Reilly: Oh man! My first dog was a Border Terrier named Clyde! Love love love that breed! We are certainly enjoying ours, and I wish you all the best with yours! :D

    9. Mark O'Reilly on

      Amazing puppies!!. We have a 10 month border Terrier and the joy a puppy brings is amazing. Enjoy them :-)

      My only wish for the future, dear Cody, is, that you make retail pledges available in future kickstarters. A friend of mine owns a board gaming store in Frankfurt and he has so many people asking him about this game, but there is literally no way for him to get it there. If he would back the normal kickstarter, he would have to sell the game at such a higher price, customers wouldn't be willing to pay. With some smaller kickstarters he does the normal pledge, but only if they're under 30$. Highly costly kickstarters like this he cannot back at the regular price, because e.g. if the ks costs about 100$ he'd have to sell the items at 150€ which again noone would want to pay. It's really hard for stores in the EU to sell your games, even online stores usually only have 1-2 copies. A retailers pledge would be so helpfull to get your game to more people! With a retailers pledge usually games that have a regular pledge of about 100$ copies can be sold in stores in the EU at about 120€, which is okay and most customers are willing to pay the little extra. I know so many want to play it and just don't know or use ks for their own reasons, a broader mass would be attracted to the game. It's just a thought I've been having ever since I first discovered XIA right after the kickstarter for the first expansion, and I thought I'd share it with you.

      On another note: If you're interested in marketing your game throughout Germany, I can only recommend you to send a copy of it to the famous YouTube channel Hunter und Cron. They are the dice tower of Germany really, they even host their own board games fair in Berlin which is well visited. I can only recommend this, usually good games (and I know your game is incredibly good) sell too well after those guys showed it on their channel. Since I met Cron last year on SPIEL in Essen, Germany, I know he's been dying to get a hand on a copy of Xia, but as I said before, if you miss the kickstarter, it's basically impossible to get the game in Europe. (Also SPIEL Essen is basically the German GenCon and boardgamers from all over Europe come to this special con! It's really important.)
      I hope you'll read this and think about it a little bit, even if you don't decide to make a retailers pledge. :)

      Also: I love your puppies <3

      I love your dogs names! My dog is a big white and black newfie called Appa :)

      Finally got round to playing Xia for the first time. The hodge podge of rules was a long time deterrent. We still didn't find some rules but it was far more fun than I anticipated

    13. Mashing

      Heh, as a big fan of Kingdom Hearts I love how you named one of your pups Sora. The other should have been Riku though.

    14. Mark Johnson

      Best part of this post is the puppies!
