Hey Backers! I hope you're having an awesome December! Last time I checked in, Xia was waiting at the docks! Lets see where things are at now! I've broken the update into each shipping region:

Ocean Voyages

All our current ship locations as of now (Dec 19)
All our current ship locations as of now (Dec 19)

I've included links to each ship's Marine Traffic page, so you can follow along with them in real-time if you like! See more info below! :)

Asia

Our copies have been received by VFI Asia and are now in the shipping queue! Keep an eye out in your email, as VFI will be sending tracking #'s as copies go out! :)

Australia / New Zealand

Justin at OTX Logistics has been working tierelessly to get the best shipping time possible for us, he's got us booking on the container ship OOCL ITALY.

Heading to Shenzhen to pick up Australia / New Zealand copies!
Heading to Shenzhen to pick up Australia / New Zealand copies!

The OOCL ITALY is due to pick up the copies from the port in Shenzhen on December 24th, with an ETA in Sydney January 5th (the day before Aetherworks comes back from holiday). In this way we're hoping to get the games to Aetherworks as close to when they re-open as possible! :)

Brazil

I've been working with Jeremy at VFI Asia on the best solution for shipping to Brazil. Jeremy has put me in contact with Brazilian company: Conclave Editora

We are looking at shipping all the Brazilian orders on a pallet to Conclave Editora (along with another publisher, shipping their games) and once the pallet arrives, Conclave Editora would do the final fulfillment. If you live in Brazil and have any experience with Conclave Editora, I'd love to know! :)

Canada

Our copies have been picked up from port by the good ship OOCL ANTWERP

United States

Our copies have set sail on the RHL CONSTANTIA!

Currently both RHL CONSTANTIA and OOCL ANTWERP are passing by Higashidori, Japan! The view from the lighthouse there might be something like this:

Europe

Our copies are currently aboard the CMA CGM ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT!

Currently our ship is just off the south coast of Sri Lanka! Looking out from the city of Matara - you might be able to catch a glimpse of our cargo ship on the horizon! :)

Conclusion

Ok, that's all I've got for today! I'll keep you updated as we go! Please feel free to ask questions in the comments below and I'll answer as soon as I can! :) Until next time, I'll see you starside!

Cheers, -Cody

P.S. Got our tree lit up! Here's Judah and I trying to figure out how many lights we need to wrap it...

@Cody: I remember the shipping related updates you made for the Embers campaign were pretty awesome, and still you somehow manage to kick them up yet another notch this time around! Great! :D

As for the Marine Traffic tracking: With a paid subscription you can track the ships through GPS (which, I suppose, never goes out of range), but with a free account we only get to use the tracking provided by (mostly land-based) AIS radio transceivers, that's why the ships "freeze" when they get too far off shore. Marine Traffic is actually providing equipment for volunteers to set up AIS stations of their own, and if I had only lived somewhere it would be meaningful with such a station, I might have done it for the fun of it. But either way, that doesn't help us much right now. ;)

@Dan Gillis: Ahh - yes, for some reason some ships on Marine Traffic lose touch with the GPS database when they head out to deep sea. It might be that you need a "paid" account on Marine Traffic to track them, or it could be a security thing? You can see it says it's coordinates "Received: 2018-12-17 15:37 UTC" so about 9 days ago. When it gets close to Vancouver I'm assuming it will update it's current coordinates in the system. :)

I may be wrong, but the Good ship Antwerp is taking its sweet time anchoring off the coast of Japan. Didn't anyone mention to them that they are on a schedule?

@THOMAS-JOSEPH CARRIERI: You can email us at info@faroffgames.com or you can send us a message here on Kickstarter, be sure to include the full shipping address and we'll get you taken care of! :)

@Cory Fleury: You bet man!! :)

@Ritch Lizárraga: That's good to hear! I've tried to research them and they seem like other reputable publishers have been working with them.

@Tyinsar: Thanks!! I wish you and yours a happy Christmas as well!! :D

@João José Gois / André Silveira: We are trying to pay the import tax when we send it to Conclave - but my previous experience with Brazilian post makes me hesitant to promise anything. We'll try our best to keep taxes as low as legally possible! :)

@Sebastian Trost: Thanks so much! I hope you and YOUR family have an excellent holiday! :)

@Jonathan West: You bet man! It's my pleasure to serve such amazing backers! I really enjoy the whole process, and I feel it's only my duty to communicate as best I can - since you all have put your trust in Far Off Games! :)

@Bill K. Haha! That's a great question! I don't have that information (I'm not sure the container ship companies disclose it?) I'm sure it's in good hands though! :)

Okay, now you've got me wondering: which container is it in?
(Hopefully not the blue one stacked six high on the starboard stern...yikes.)

Brazilian here! Conclave is a very serious editor. They had some problems with Robinson Crusoe, but after that they learnt from their mistakes and got better!
As asked below, will we have to pay taxes, or is this game tax free for us? (VAT free)

Thanks for the update Cody. Brilliant you take the time to do this - many wouldn't be bothered! And I'm following progress of the ship to Europe eagerly! Happy New year present to us ...

    16. João José Gois on

Yay! Conclave is a good publisher here in Brazil. They are handling their gaming business in a good manner, but I have never seen them dealing with fullfilment from other companies, so let's see how it goes. I believe it will be nice and easy. (Important question though: does this mean that Conclave will deal with import taxes and we (the clients) won't need to pay for it?)

    17. Tyinsar on

@ Cody Miller: Thanks again for the great updates! Have an awesome Christmas. 8-)
