Cards, Spreadsheets, Sellsword, and Arydia Updates
Hey backers!!! I hope you're all having an excellent November! It's cold and crisp here on the Oregon Coast, I just turned 35 years old, and wow, it's been a busy week! Here's what I've been up to since we last talked:
Mission Cards Update
OK! Last we spoke, I'd updated you on the mission card backs that were a bit off! Shortly after that update Panda sent me a set of samples. Those samples were about 50% better than the last, but still not 100% there. So Panda sent me one more set of samples this Monday, which are just right, and I'm very happy with the results!
Long story short: Mission Card backs should be compatible with all print runs of Xia! Yay!!! :)
David and I have been going over spreadsheets, contracts, shipping projections and all sorts of documents trying to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible for the upcoming ocean freight portion of the project! :)
Basically Panda needs to know how to divide up the 30,000+ things that we're printing into correct shipments. This is a multi-tiered challenge for me, thankfully it's my 5th time going through the process, so it's easier than before, but still it takes a good amount of headspace to carefully think through all the decisions.
First we export all the 8000+ orders via Kickstarter / Crowdox into a single spreadsheet, then divide them into our fulfillment regions. Then we setup a master tab to count # of copies each region has ordered.
Once we have that, we add a separate column to add 10% to that number as "extras" to be used for replacements in case of damage/loss/defects, then we lump in our retail copies as a third column. Once we get those numbers we divide them up by how many copies fit in our manufacturers cartons. We double check all our #'s against CrowdOX's confirmed order counts, to ensure we haven't missed anything (then triple and quadruple check, haha!)
Then I'm able to take our # of cartons per pallet, to get total # of pallets which finally allows us to calculate our CBM (Volume in cubic meters) and our total weight in KG for each shipment! Yay math! These are the numbers that our logistics company, OTX Logistics, needs to start their job of finding the best options for our freight shipments! Hah, anyway, after all that I kind of feel like this:
There's a ton of other mind-numbing things that go into completing the shipping plan, such as all of Amazon.com's hoops you have to jump through just to get a warehouse delivery address, but I won't bore you with all those things today, haha!
TL;DR: I'm happy to say I've just finished getting the shipping plan completed for all 6 of our shipments, and emailed it off to PandaGM and OTX Logistics to look over and approve!
Panda is currently looking it over and they're coordinating with OTX Logistics to get things wrapped up (literally, in shrink wrap) and ready for the ocean voyage as quickly as possible. I don't have any better details today, my brainpower is pretty sapped just getting the shipping plan completed this week, but I'll get some estimates for our next update! :)
I believe I forgot to show you guys the box the Sellsword Mk II comes in! We decided it was much easier to separate out the Sellsword into it's own box this time around, so we have less SKUs to manage.
It was originally going to be a simple white tuckbox (on left), but then it was the same price to print something on it, so I threw this together real quick! :)
Arydia: Dev Diary #2 - Combat
I haven't had much time to work on Arydia this week with all the Xia logistics (Getting Xia out to you is my #1 priority!) However, I did post my second developer diary on BGG, you can find it here, if you're itching to know what we're up to next! :)
Ok, that's all I've got for today! Next update I'll run timeline estimates for delivery and all that! If you have any questions or if there's anything I can do for you, please feel free to post below in the comments and I'll answer them first thing Monday morning! I wish you an awesome weekend, and until next time, I'll see you starside!! :)
P.S. My birthday was Nov 9th, and I had an awesome birthday week! Thanks to my incredible wife Abby & kids for taking me to breakfast and hiking, and my dad taking me for a ride on his electric skateboards, and my mom, for having me!!! :D
