Fighting Fantasy - the Series - July Update

Posted by David N. Smith (Creator)

We've clearly been a little remiss with updates here on Kickstarter, so we thought we'd bring you a quick update on our progress over recent months...

Following on from the successful funding of the Kickstarter, we immediately launched ourselves into pre-production. This includes script development and approval, casting, scheduling and commissioning of artwork. This phase is now complete.

We've now formally entered our production phase. Recording wrapped a few days ago, so we can now officially announce our main cast. This includes:

 • Rachel Atkins returns as Vale Moonwing, continuing her adventures in Allanisa after the events of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: The Hero's Quest

 • David Warner joins our regular cast as Yaztromo. David is best known for his appearances in Star Trek, Time Bandits, Tron and Titanic.

 • Lisa Bowerman as Evelina of Dree. Lisa is best known for her work with Big Finish, as the Doctor Who spin-off companion Bernice Summerfield

 • Andrew Wincott as Balthus Dire. Andrew is best known for his voice work on various computer games and as a narrator of countless spoken-word books, including the Dragonbone Chair series.

 • Charlie Higson as Baron Sukumvit. He is best know for his work of The Fast Show, but Fighting Fantasy fans will of course know know him as the author of The Gates of Death.

 • Richard Rycroft as Throm the Barbarian. You're most likely to know Richard from his role as Maester Wolkan in Game Of Thrones.

We've also recorded some cameos appearances by two pledgers, Bryan Howarth and Lin Liren, and Fighting Fantasy author Jonathan Green.

That's not everyone! One of the main reasons we ran the Kickstarter, was to help us get the large cast we needed to make the project work, so its runaway success means there are too many people to list here!

With the recording section now complete, we'll shortly be starting post production. (Sound design, music, packaging, website changes etc)

So, there's lots still to do. We're possibly a couple of weeks behind schedule, but we're making good progress.

You can also find two teaser trails, and some photographs from the recordings, on the Facebook Group.

Another update will follow at the beginning of August.

May your Skill, Stamina and Luck never fail!

Good old Andrew Wincott. Balthus Dire eh? Not the voice I'd imagined for him but he's a fine actor and it's always good to hear his work :). I'd kind of imagiend Balthus Dire as being more of a Michael Maloney type.
