About

THE FIRST HEART-WARMING FILM ABOUT A SHOW DOG
My wife and I have been TV and Movie producers for many years, and when our beloved dog, Merlin, passed away, we looked around for a new puppy. Then we found Kipling. But Kipling insisted that we make him a show dog. Suddenly we were thrust into an unknown world... that of dog shows. But amazingly, we were hooked!
That's when we heard the incredible story of teenager Trish Kanzler and her red Siberian, Cinnar, who shocked the world when they decided to try and win Top Dog. They kept getting closer and closer... but lost out in the final show of the year. After that, Cinnar had his ear ripped off. So no prize, no more shows, and a horrible Christmas.
But Trish found out that her dog was still eligible for Westminster. So she took her red colored dog, now missing a chunk of his ear, and went to NY. First they won Breed. Then they won Group. And there she was... on live television, up against the greatest dogs and handlers in the entire world... and the rest, as they say, became history.
Their story is a real life fairy tale, about a girl and her dog, their unconditional love, and the magical bond that all of us share with our dogs. It is also a dream of everyone who has a dog... to not only to go to Westminster, but to win it all with their dog!
And now, with YOUR HELP, this story can finally be made into a film! It will be the first positive and inspiring film about dog shows, made by some of the top creative talent in Hollywood. And you can blame it all on my dog, Kipling!

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP?
Because the movie studios don't believe in you! They don't know that purebred dogs are under attack! They don't know that dog shows are threatened! And they certainly don't know the hard work, dedication, and love that goes into showing dogs!
THE FIRST POSITIVE TRUE STORY ABOUT DOG SHOWS!
Those of you who know Trish Kanzler know she supports this project because it is a loving, inspiring and uplifting story about people and dogs. And this film has it all - drama, pathos, excitement, conflict, disappointment, redemption and victory.

A HEART-WARMING AND INSPIRATIONAL MOVIE ABOUT THE LOVE... THE BOND... AND THE MAGIC THAT ALL DOGS BRING US!
But don't take our word for it. Listen to what other people say:
A PORTION OF OUR PROFITS WILL GO TO CHARITY
That's right. In 1993 TAKE THE LEAD was established to provide direct services, support and care for people in the sport of purebred dogs who suffer the devastation of life-threatening or terminal illness. And as Producers involved in this great sport, we want to give back to the people involved with it by supporting Take The Lead with a portion of our profits.

OUR GOAL
TO RAISE $6 MILLION TO MAKE THE FIRST POSITIVE MOVIE ABOUT THE WORLD OF DOG SHOWS!
As many of you know, movie making is an expensive business. Many studio films these days have budgets well over one-hundred million dollars! But we know how to make this into a great film for much less!
But it's still expensive. And we need YOUR help!
We are setting a goal of 2 million dollars. If we don't raise that much, we don't keep a penny and you get all your money back. That is the minimum that we need. We will then supplement it with money from other sources, such as foreign pre-sales and product placement.
But the more we raise, the better the film. So every dollar YOU pledge helps us make a better movie!
Here's a simple diagram to help you remember how it works:

WE'RE PROFESSIONALS, NOT AMATEURS
That's right. We know how to put YOUR money on the screen and make a great film.
And we have worked with many of Hollywood's biggest stars from Brad Pitt to Tom Selleck.
OUR TEAM

Writer-Producer DANIEL HELFGOTT has made award-winning movies and TV shows about real people overcoming impossible odds. He has 2 Emmy nominations, an Emmy, and numerous other awards. He loves telling true stories about heroic underdogs, and was a bit of an underdog himself when he and his wife entered their Tibetan Terrier into his first dog show. After that, they were hooked! They couldn't believe Hollywood hadn't made a movie before this sport before, and when they heard this story, they knew it had to get made.

Director Roger Young has owned dogs his entire life, and right now has a wonderful rescue dog named Manny. He's also directed more than 40 motion pictures and miniseries. Some of those titles include The Bourne Identity, Under Siege, Geronimo, Murder in Mississippi, A Knight in Camelot, Jesus, and Hercules. He has three Director's Guild Awards, an Emmy, and has directed a ton of stars, from Brad Pitt to Tom Selleck.

Director of Photography Don Morgan is a legend in Hollywood. He also loves dogs, and right now has two wonderful companions: Bella and Emmy. Emmy, as you might guess, is named after one of Don's favorite things. He has 9 Emmy nominations, 5 Emmys, 6 ASC nominations, 4 wins, and a career achievement award from the American Society of Cinematographers. He has shot more than 70 films, from the ground-breaking sci-fi film Starman to the eerie thriller Christine. He and director Roger Young have worked together on 13 films.

When you think of music, and then think of film music, you think of composer Patrick Williams. Pat received his first Oscar nomination for the ground-breaking film Breaking Away, and has gone on to score more than 200 movies. He has 23 Emmy nominations, 4 Emmys, 16 Grammy nominations, 2 Grammys, and has composed and produced albums for everyone from Frank Sinatra to Barbra Streisand.

Risks and challenges
We have been making movies in Hollywood our entire careers, with budgets from 2 million dollars to over 30 million dollars. We know every aspect of film production and can tackle any obstacle. But we are doing this project out of love... for this story... for the sport of dog shows... and for all dogs in general.
