This original string quartet will be recorded by the New England String Quartet and released on PARMA's compilation album this year!
I am a professional violinist and composer. You can view my bio and more at http://sarahwallinhuff.com.
PARMA Recordings (http://www.parmarecordings.com/) has chosen to feature my original string quartet, "Anima Mechanicae: Soul of the Machine," on their upcoming Modern String Quartet album, to be performed by the prestigious New England String Quartet in Boston and released this year. All costs of the professional quality recording, in every aspect of its journey, including editing, design, and marketing and distribution, will be covered by this investment.
I am greatly looking forward to sharing my work on a vastly broader scale, and the future opportunities this venture and partnership with PARMA will bring!
Why does PARMA expect you to pay them money when they are requesting to use your music on their album?
Because this is a collaboration, not an opportunity for them to "buy" my music or the right to use it. By paying this money (in a sense, co-investing in this project with them), I maintain all rights to my work and the masters. If I were going it alone on this, I'd have to pay for a studio, engineer, top-professional performers, post-production, graphic artwork, and everything that would go with worldwide marketing, promotion, and distribution. That would cost me a whole lot more, and I just don't have the financial or interpersonal resources to accomplish something like this to this scale. PARMA is offering to do all this for me, to back my work and this recording with all their connections and resources they have as a major world-class label, if I partner and work alongside them. Sounds like a GREAT thing to me! ;)
High quality album presentation and artwork, audio and digital download options, enhanced content available with the album, international distribution through major retailers in-store and online, inclusion in the Naxos Music Library, full publicity, licensing and publishing (film, video games, commercials). And of course, the recording process itself. :)
