Read Our Interviews!
Inspired by Shakespeare's Julius Caesar and the events of history, Cassius is set in a Roman-esque universe centered around the collection of states know as Latium. The story follows our heroine Junia, who belongs to the Latium state of Cyrentha, and believes herself to be no more than ordinary. But one single act of violence suddenly thrusts Junia into a world of politics, betrayal, greed, bloodshed, and fate - and Junia must overcome it all if she is to survive.
For in this world there is the legend of Cassius, one person who bears a cursed mark that will bring about great change. Such change will either be for Latium's benefit or lead to its complete destruction.
It is Junia who now bears this mark, and she is about to take part in something that is much more than any one person can bear alone.
As we get closer to our goal, we will unlock more character profiles so you can learn more about the cast!

PRINTS FOR KICKSTARTER BACKERS!
This comic is already fully penciled and is currently undergoing the coloring process. The main goal of this kickstarter is to fund printing, shipping, and the making of a few fun little extras like the temporary tattoos and the prints!
We're looking at printing 1000 copies of Cassius - Issue I, in order to have enough stock to take with us to conventions after the Kickstarter is completed. The book will be 6.625"x10.25", 32 pages long, and in full color on high quality glossy paper
ALL BACKERS WHO PLEDGE AT THE BRUTUS TIER OR HIGHER WILL ALSO RECEIVE TWO 2" BUTTONS! THOSE WHO PLEDGED AT LOWER TIERS AND WISH TO GET BUTTONS MUST ADD $2 TO THEIR PLEDGES! :)
Because CASSIUS is written as a three-arc story, with six to seven issues per arc, our goal is to get as many issues printed as possible in order to bring readers more of the story as quickly as we can. Should we make our goal of $3,700, our aim is to get more issues of the first arc printed, while also providing our backers with some great art rewards from guest artists along the way. As we get closer to our stretch goals, we'll reveal what each one of them is!
**UPDATE - 3/22/15**
WOW! So we blew through that initial goal in a week! That is super awesome! I'm really excited to announce our first stretch goal!
A PRINTS PORTFOLIO FROM AWESOME GUEST ARTISTS!!

CASSIUS: ISSUE II
Synopsis: After barely fleeing her home state with her life, Junia must come face to face with the first commander of Caesar's Army - Lepidis - and learns just why the mark of Cassius is oftentimes referred to as a curse.
Emily Willis is a full-time comics creator, proprietor of Arbitrary Muse Comics, and passionate story-teller. Having co-written Grave Impressions (an adult historical mystery centered around a gay detective in 1942 Pittsburgh) with her best friend, and If The Shoe Fits (a retelling of the Cinderella story) with her fianceé - she decided it was time to write a story solo. Cassius is her brainchild, born of her love for Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar and all things Roman, and fueled by her need to see more diverse, 3-dimensional female characters brought to life in modern comics. She lives with her fianceé, 2 cats, and an every-growing pile of notebooks and ideas.
Ann Uland draws, paints, colors, scribbles, and generally makes a ton of comics. She co-owns Arbitrary Muse Comics and is ridiculously excited to see the Cassius project come to fruition. Ann has worked on Grave Impressions, If The Shoe Fits, and participated in Dirty Diamonds' 5th Anthology last year. She is the aforementioned fianceé, coexisting happily with Emily, the cats, notebooks, and filling sketchbooks at an even more rapid rate.
Risks and challenges
Producing a run of 1000 physical copies of a comic book inherently presents challenges and there is always the possibility of something going wrong. The good news is that after 2 and a half years of making comics and successfully navigating the printing/shipping process for 3 previous comics, we’re pretty well equipped to deal with any hiccups that might arise. We’re on schedule for copies to ship by the end of July and we’re happy to be working with the reliable folks at PrintNinja (who’ve given us quality products on time before). We also believe in keeping the lines of communication open, so we’ll keep you updated on the process start to finish and if any issue that affected shipping dates were to come up, we’d keep you well informed of the situation!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
