Welcome to our BodyStories: Teresa Fellion Dance 2013 Kickstarter page. Whether you happened to stumble across our campaign or you have been a long time supporter we are glad you are here! Let’s cut right to the chase: We have been selected for some amazing opportunities this summer with partial funding and we have worked extremely hard to secure needed funding for them to materialize. We are half of the way there! Now we need your support to help close the gap and make them 100% POSSIBLE!
Exciting News! BodyStories:Teresa Fellion Dance is presenting our first NYC Season since our 2009 season at Baryshnikov Arts Center. In recent years we have presented full evenings and selections at several tour locations and it is so exciting to be coming home with works we have been developing for over a year. On June 27 & 29 at CPR-Center for Performance Research, we will be premiering Control Dominion and The Mantises Are Flipping (P.S. I’ll have whatever they’re having) and on June 28, we will be sharing an excerpt at Bryant Park SummerStage. Our company has also been invited to perform at the Booking Dance Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. We participated in this festival in 2010, receiving several highlighted reviews. This time, we will be performing in eight shows at the Venue 150@EICC, performing on the Royal Mile Stage, as well as teaching workshops and meeting with European presenters. We will also be performing and teaching workshops at the Strefa Wolnoslowa Foundation Festival of Theatre and Dance in Warsaw, Poland! We have been focusing this year on furthering relationships with European artists and presenters so that this trip will allow us to do in-depth artistic collaborations abroad and secure bookings for future engagements for our company.
Your donation to our 2013 Kickstarter Campaign will be directly funding the artists’ stipends, transportation, and lodging for the above projects. We are proud to be collaborating with such amazing artists as dancers Corey Bliss, Li Cata, Daniel Chenoweth, Julie Goldberg, Sarah Hillmon, Julia Jurgilewicz, Nicole Kadar, and Lindsey Ridgeway, as well as composer John Yannelli and composer and live musician Ryan Edwards. Your support is extremely appreciated! As one extreme example, while we are all strong and athletic, swimming across the Atlantic might be a little exhausting before the big festival performances!
Your donation would help to pay the dancers and musicians for all their hard work this season. We have done a lot this past year such as creating and rehearsing two full works, leading workshops, and performing at Jazz at Lincoln Center, 4 Anita’s Way Times Square, Ashawagh Hall, University of Maine, The Franco-American Cultural Center Theater, New Haven Arts and Ideas Festival, DNA, Williamsburg Art and Historical Center, John Ryan Theater, Greene Space, and Dixon Place, among others. We’ve also grown our administration and development team. We have received partial support from these engagements, as well as grants, but without financial support from individual donors, we won't have the needed resources for necessary rehearsals, production costs, performance stipends, and travel costs. We aim to continue growing, creating, offering educational programming, and performing for you, our fans, and every cent helps us to do so.
Growing a dance company is challenging, but so rewarding when we get to have a shared experience of creating art through dance with communities all over the world and offering this experience to others via audience engagement and teaching to diverse populations! We hope to finish out this campaign strong, reaching at least $4,000 towards our $10,000 expenses! We can do it together!! Take a look at the teaser video of our repertory we have been creating and performing this past year such as Fault Line, Control Dominion, No One Gets Out of Here Alive, and The Mantises Are Flipping (P.S. I’ll have whatever they’re having). These are the works we are able to do with your support! Also, check out all the fun goodies and rewards we have to offer for donating and please support our campaign today!
