About Us and Our Company’s Goals
At BodyStories: Teresa Fellion Dance, our goal is to capture and communicate universal human encounters through dynamic, purposeful movement. Through our choreography and our art, we aim to examine the depths of society in their darkest and brightest moments. Most importantly, we want to inspire audiences (you!) to physically sense emotional and psychological aspects of the human condition on stage. Our company is committed to reaching diverse populations through arts education and maintaining a stable business model to sustain our work. Our company values international exchange; we collectively speak nine languages and research, perform, and collaborate with artists from five continents.. How Far We’ve Gotten
With your help last year, we had amazingly successful performances at Bryant Park SummerStage, Ailey Citigroup Theatre, 92nd St. Y, CPR-Center for Performance Research, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and in Edinburgh, Scotland, and we have taught numerous classes and workshops! To learn more about what we’ve done this past year, check out our calendar at http://bodystoriesfellion.org/calendar/. We have taken on a few new amazing dancers as well to grow our team! Here’s what some people have to say about us!
"the work Teresa is creating is so unique and so beautiful....... it should definitely be shared." - Courtney (workshop participant)
“I discovered the light, fast, fluid work of the New York based Teresa Fellion Dance company, filled with wit and levity.” - The Huffington Post
"loved the quality of the movement: how connected and circular it felt in my body." - Suzzanne (workshop participant)
".....an inspiring experience." - Elena (workshop participant)
How You Can Help!
Our dancers are an extremely dedicated and talented group of individuals working together in a creative, productive setting. They rehearse in very in-depth processes to inspire our audiences and are committed to expressing our mission through their movement. This year especially, as the company has expanded and grown, they have been relentlessly working, rehearsing and improving to meet the standards of the impressive venues we have been performing in! They are doing their part and now we need your help! We need to pay these dancers well for all their hard work! We are working on completing World Two of The Mantises are Flipping (P.S. I’ll have whatever they’re having) for full-evening summer performances. We also need new costumes to develop and improve the show after some valuable positive feedback from our supporters, like you, for our big performances coming up this summer!
Performances Coming Up that Need Funding
We are so lucky to have a plethora of performances coming up in the next season! With such a busy schedule of opportunities, we appreciate your contribution to Kickstart our success for another year!
Shared Evening Performance at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center with Treeline Dance Works June 21st at 7pm!
We are preparing a beautiful shared evening performance with Lyndsey Vader and Treeline Dance Works! We feel lucky to share the stage with other talented artists and team up to affect a wider audience! We are thrilled to share World Two's culminating full production of The Mantises Are Flipping (P.S. I'll have whatever they're having), with live music and new costumes in this amazing theatre.
Bryant Park SummerStage June 27 from 6-7:30pm
After an extremely successful performance last year at Bryant Park, we have been asked back again this year, this time being presented by ITE, Inception to Exhibition, with 45 minutes or longer performance time and focus on our company! BodyStories: Teresa Fellion Dance is certainly getting noticed and going places!
Theatre at the Ross School: East Hampton, NY July 31 & August 2 at 7pm
We are also lucky to be teaching and in residence at the prestigious Ross School in East Hampton all summer with performances on July 31 and August 2nd. We will be performing four diverse works from our repertory in public performances for our students and fans alike!
Built on Stilts: Martha’s Vineyard August 7-9
We are participating in the Built on Stilts Festival in Martha’s Vineyard the weekend of August 7-9th and we’d love if you would come join us!
These are only some of the impressive venues that we have been asked to perform at in the coming months! We have the motivation, drive, talent, and dedication needed, and we would love for you to help us put all of these into action with your donation!
Thank you for your support of BodyStories: Teresa Fellion Dance! It means the moving world to us, literally.

Risks and challenges
As always running a successful dance company has its challenges in funding, limited rehearsal time, donor and audience base expansion, and many other things. But with your help and our dedication and talent, we believe we can conquer anything life has to throw at us and continue to build our dance company to its greatest potential! We have managed successfully with these obstacles in the past, and each year, as we grow and develop, we implement improved strategies for maintaining a successful company. In all aspects creative and administrative, running a dance company means we are constantly learning and we consistently welcome and meet new challenges with thought, resourcefulness, and action.
We have done several Split Bill and short performances in the past and we are challenging ourselves to lead into our own full conscientiousness and evening-length works with your help! In the coming year, we are hoping to self-produce our own full-evening work involving set-design, audience interaction, and bringing our material to its fullest potential. We are wanting to go deeper in rehearsals, being able to pay dancers more so they can afford to commit more time to our company and continue to grow as the amazing artists that they are, and keep our company moving forward. In the free lance atmosphere of dancers juggling many jobs, keeping talented dancers long-term means needing to both inspire them, but also pay them for their time. With our impressive performance opportunities, and as a company both maintaining active repertory and staying alive with a strong commitment to creating new work, the challenge is to now keep our dancers taken care of financially so they can afford to stay with the company longer term and we can grow as a unified team.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
