We believe in telling great stories that can move people and make change.
We created THE BLOOD IN THIS TOWN (www.bloodinthistown.com) - a documentary featuring Rutland, Vermont, a struggling city now rallying to revitalize itself - driven by our belief in the future of America’s small towns and a passion for storytelling. THE BLOOD IN THIS TOWN chronicles Rutland's community initiatives which are forging new paths to sustainable economic development. We aim to share this film with rural and rust-belt communities across the country, and help spark and uncover other remarkable stories of innovation and community-building.
With America at crossroads, the stories we tell about ourselves and our communities can help dramatically shape who we are and where we’re heading. We think that the thousands of struggling towns in the U.S. are more than backdrops for media and politicians who visit to “feel America’s pain.” These places possess unique strengths and assets that can be built upon and shared through community screenings and forums.
We plan to distributeTHE BLOOD IN THIS TOWN, and encourage others in small towns to re-visit local strengths and grassroots initiatives. By doing so, we hope to engage audiences to tell the positive stories rising from the backyards and back alleys of America where innovation and re-invention live. We aim to build upon the screenings & revitalization forums we’ve organized these past nine months in towns across Vermont, Pennsylvania, New York, Indiana, California and on Capitol Hill in Washington (see The Huffington Post) – reaching farther and wider to communities in dozens of states that are now requesting the film and the grassroots engagement it can engender.
We will replicate and distribute DVDs, create a Discussion & Action Guide, and organize screenings & forums in arts centers, churches and town halls. We’re working to re-connect people with the power of storytelling and inspire their own efforts to “change the narrative.”
