The Strange Kickstarter campaign has come to an incredibly successful end. We here at MCG are so proud and thrilled at the reception you’ve given the game. Thanks so much for making this all a reality! It will take a year and a half—possibly longer—to bring all of these fantastic products to fruition, so we have our work ahead of us. We can’t wait!
This is Charles writing; I’m the COO of Monte Cook Games, and I’m the guy who’s written the bulk of what you’ve been reading over the course of the campaign (leaving Bruce, Monte, and Shanna free to write what you really want to read—our great games!). I want to personally thank each and every backer, not just for making this such a success, but also for making it such a pleasure. You’re a fantastic group of gamers.
I’d also like to call out the hard work of the entire Monte Cook Game staff: Shanna, Monte, Bruce, and Tammie. Each of them has put in a lot of long, long hours not just to make this campaign a success, but to keep all of our many other plates spinning as this was going on.
And I’d like to thank the incredibly talented Matt Stawicki, our lead concept artist who provided the bulk of all the great art you’ve seen over the past five weeks, on a very tight schedule. And Reece Ambrose, who did the great mockup graphics (frequently turning them around in mere minutes when necessary) and Lee Smith, who created all the other Kickstarter graphics.
There are a hundred other people I should thank, from those who helped put the word out for us to the very kind gamers who led the conversation and answered a lot of questions in our comments section. But more than anything it comes back around to you, the supporters.
We ended the campaign at about $418,500—just shy of a $420,000 stretch goal. The enthusiasm at the end of the campaign was incredible, with dozens of backers in the Kickstarter's comments cheering us through the final stretch. With so much good cheer, we can’t let this end on a down note—even a minor one. So we’re going to honor the stretch goal anyway, and make the hoped-for upgrades to the Strange Recursions book.
You made this game a reality. Personally, and from all of us at MCG, thanks.
