Step a billion years into the future—into the Ninth World, where the remnants of previous civilizations’ technologies are indistinguishable from magic. Based on Monte’s Cook’s Cypher System, a new RPG system that focuses on story and ideas over mechanics.
4,658 backers pledged $517,255 to help bring this project to life.

Some Important Information

We made it past the $425,000 mark, so now The Ninth World Bestiary, Sir Arthur's Compendium, and The Ninth World Guide will be even larger books! Cool.

We've put together a short checklist for you to look over before we bring this wild ride to an end Monday afternoon. I want everyone to be happy, and I don't want any unpleasant surprises for you or for me. To avoid any delays or problems in getting your rewards, please take a look at all of these points to ensure you're all set:

1. Double Check Your Pledge
Go right now to the Kickstarter page and look at the backer level you've chosen as it is described in the main text, NOT THE BACKER LEVELS AT THE RIGHT. Check that it's what you want, and check the shipping charge, if applicable. Make sure your pledge amount matches that amount. If you have selected add-on rewards, double-check your math one more time to make sure that the total of all your add-ons, plus your backer level (plus shipping for both the level and all items), equals the amount of your pledge. You must do this to ensure that you can get everything you want. Please keep in mind that we can't issue refunds.

2. Shipping
If your physical rewards are to be shipped beyond North America, please be sure to add the appropriate amount of shipping to your pledge. If you are ordering a Thunderstone game, be aware that anywhere outside the U.S. incurs a shipping charge--Canadians take note! We will be unable to offer refunds and without shipping we will be unable to deliver your book.

3. Credit Card
Please make sure your credit card information is current and correct through Amazon. Failures in processing will delay or prevent you from getting your stuff.

4. Last Minute Reward Add-OnsOnce the Kickstarter campaign is over, new backers will not be able to join. Backers won't be able modify your pledge using Kickstarter for any reason. Opportunities exclusive to the Kickstarter will no longer be available.

However, for a week after the Kickstarter, we will allow backers to use PayPal to add more Reward Add-Ons at this page. Make sure you use the same name on both Kickstarter or PayPal so we can match up your orders.

The ability for non-backers to join in will be gone, however, as will the ability of backers to change backer levels. The Thunderstone game, and The Nightmare Switch will not be available after Monday afternoon. This is just for the last minute, “I really want to get that bestiary after all,” kind of situation. Please keep in mind that we can't issue refunds, so choose carefully. Each item, and each shipping charge, need to be handled as a separate transaction. Do not forget shipping!

Thank you so much!

Crap! I didn't add the leather option in my kickstarter, and the option went away on the PayPal add-ons (because I saw it there and then decided not to worry). I also read that the kickstarter was going to ask about add-ons.

    2. Creator Del M on September 17, 2012

So after monday, you meant literally after the kickstarter ended, not thru the end of the day =_= No leather and thunder for me.

    3. Creator Del M on September 17, 2012 it just me, or of the higher levels, 'JUST THE STUFF' the only one that doesn't have a printed Nightmare Switch? I find that sad D:

    4. Creator Daniel Maddern on September 17, 2012

Work out everything extra you want, total the extra cash and pledge it as extra. Once its over you'll get a survey asking what extras you wanted.

    5. Creator Tom Zunder on September 17, 2012

er, how do I add the reward add ons and let you know which ones I wanted? I can only see a way to add an extra sum of money to my pledge but not a place to say what I wanted. HELP!

    6. Creator JDL | Stranded | on September 16, 2012

      @Graeme: $500,000 is a Numenera film.

    7. Creator Graeme Lewis on September 16, 2012

Is there going to be a $475K or $500K stretch goal at the last minute? Because I bet we could pull that off.

    8. Creator Grant Kinsley on September 16, 2012

@Christopher K., yes, add-ons still have to have shipping added on for international shipping the free international shipping for the initial pledge at 250 and up only includes the items enumerated in the list on the home page for that pledge level. except thunderstone all products ship in North America without extra charge

    9. Creator Christopher Kay-Chalk on September 16, 2012

I I pledge at one of the $250+ levels do I have to account for shipping for the add ins as well? or is all shipping free including the add ons (excluding thunder stone of course)

    10. Creator Grant Kinsley on September 16, 2012

@Christopher, *I think that is the cheapest way to get hard back copies of the core book, player's guide, bestiary, Sir Arthur and the world book

    11. Creator Christopher Kugler on September 16, 2012

      Thanks, Grant.

    12. Creator Grant Kinsley on September 16, 2012

@Christopher, I think that is about your cheapest option

    13. Creator Christopher Kugler on September 16, 2012

Right now I'm pledged at Patron ($70). I'm thinking about adding print copies of the other books, which by my count comes out to a total of $220 (I don't care about the leather cover, print copies of the adventures, dice, etc.). Is there a cheaper way I can do this--get pdfs of everything and get physical copies of all of the books?

    14. Creator JDL | Stranded | on September 16, 2012

      Interested Patron ($100) + Just the Stuff ($240) + $50 guide book print = $390.

      Interested Patron ($100) + 3 adventures ($45) + bestiary ($40) + tech book ($40) + guide book ($50) + player's guide ($20) + GM screen ($32) = $327. This does not include dice ($20) or the extra copy of the core book ($60).

    15. Creator Grant Kinsley on September 16, 2012

@joey, you would have to do a price comparison of taking interested patron and doing the add ons, vs setting up 2 accounts and doing interested patron on one and just the stuff on another (which would give you 2 copies of the hardback corebook)

    16. Creator Joey Virtue on September 16, 2012

So what pledge would i have to do to get everything in print and the playtest? what add ons you and stuff
Cause I want all the stuff in print and the GM screen but we want to playtest

    17. Creator Marco Giuntoni on September 16, 2012

Thanks to all for the quick reply.

    18. Creator Grant Kinsley on September 16, 2012

@doug, yes they do count toward the final total, perhaps tomorrow monte will let us know roughly what they are, I understand that they are relatively small. I don't think there is any doubt that the 450K goal will be reached, with some breathing troom to boot

    19. Creator Doug "Dhomal" Raas on September 16, 2012

Question.... Will the Paypal amounts be added for Final level determination of Goals? I pledged 290 via Paypal (and yes, a buck here so I could post a comment!) and would like to see the last goal (450K, more art) reached. I realize that it would not be easy to know right away perhaps...

    20. Creator Yannick Men Huon on September 16, 2012

@Darren :The Real Deal doesn't include the Nightmare SwitCh. Patron level ($ 70) does.
@Marco : Shipping costs stack, your total pledge should be $140 (60+10+50+20).
@Joey : Playtest documents can't be obtained via add-on, you should pledge at a level that includes it (which Just the Stuff doesn't).

    21. Creator Olna Jenn Smith on September 16, 2012

@Joey -- unfortunately, access to the playtest is limited to particular reward levels, it is NOT an add on.

    22. Creator Olna Jenn Smith on September 16, 2012

@Marco -- The $20 shipping is the charge just to ship the the Thunderstone game -- it's a very large, heavy box that will need to go separately. So you would need to pledge and extra $30 total for shipping for the game and for your pledge level.

    23. Creator Grant Kinsley on September 16, 2012

@joey, no just the stuff does not include the playtest stuff, nor any signed or otherwise limited items, it was designed as a pledge for those that wanted just the gaming stuff, to get the playtest material you must pledge for one of those levels and then add on other items. Just the stuff is great if you want a good deal, but being part of the history of the game will cost you more

    24. Creator Grant Kinsley on September 16, 2012

@marco, for Italy the shipping has to be included for each add on item, so yes, real deal (60) + shipping (10) + thunderstone (50) + shipping (20) for a total of 140, unfortunately the thunderstone game is big and heavy, as well the corebook and the card game will likely ship at different times

    25. Creator Grant Kinsley on September 16, 2012

@Darren, no the real deal does not include the exclusive kickstarter adventure, patron is the same as real deal but includes the exclusive adventure

    26. Creator Joey Virtue on September 16, 2012

Does Just the Stuff not include the playtest is there anyway to add on the playtest

    27. Creator Marco Giuntoni on September 16, 2012

I'm in Italy. I pledged the Real Deal ($70=$60+$10 for shipping). If I expand pledge to get Thunderstone should I pledge +$50 for the game and $20 for Shipping or only +$10 to reach $20 of the shipping?
E.g. check the pledge $270, It gets a lot of printed stuff + Thunderstone and it has $20 for shipping.
Thanks for an answer in time so I can pledge.

    28. Creator Darren Miguez on September 16, 2012

Does The Real Deal not include The Nightmare Switch?

    29. Creator Monte Cook Games on September 16, 2012

      Joel: Yes!
      James: No, and no. Sorry.

    30. Creator Grant Kinsley on September 16, 2012

@James, Monte has said the leather bound book and thunderstone cards will not be able to be added after Monday

    31. Creator Peter Sinkis on September 16, 2012

Thanks for the advice on double checking the pledge levels. Given all the add ons keeping it straight can be a challenge (I think I changed my pledge about 6 times!).

Guiding the process like this is great for any Kickstarter campaign.

    32. Creator James Patterson on September 16, 2012

Does the Leather Edition upgrade count as one of the options that can be added in the grace period?

    33. Creator Ernesto Ramirez on September 16, 2012

Triple cheked... and what @Joel said... we plan to get the other big books in the future.

    34. Creator James Patterson on September 16, 2012

Is there any chance of more COMPLETIST level pledges being opened up?

    35. Creator Joel Flank on September 16, 2012

Will the physical copies of the books be for sale separately once they're completed? I'd love to get a hard copy, but don't have the budget for the add on of them now. I assume they're be available at finer game stores and websites as they are ready (and I'm guessing at the same price or maybe $10 more.)
