Step a billion years into the future—into the Ninth World, where the remnants of previous civilizations’ technologies are indistinguishable from magic. Based on Monte’s Cook’s Cypher System, a new RPG system that focuses on story and ideas over mechanics.
4,658 backers pledged $517,255 to help bring this project to life.

Added Backer Levels

This morning I added more available slots in the previously sold out GAMER, ART LOVER, and ULTIMATE RETAILER reward levels. Characters illustrated and added via the first two might end up in the books added via the stretch goals. On that front, I also added more slots for the ADVENTURE CONTRIBUTOR level as well.

I also added a level where you can contribute a concept for a creature or character to the upcoming bestiary.

We passed 1500 backers. That makes me very happy. I'm glad the Numenera ideas are appealing to so many. Please help spread the word. The more supporters we have, the better the reward levels get for everyone.

Maybe that could be an add-on, getting the playtest materials. Might bring in some extra dollars (although so could leaving it at the $100 level, as people eventually cave and splurge on the KS).

So if I read it correct to get all the playtesting stuff that is 100USD right?
Just to high for me, $&^#*%&#*%(#*&%#(%&#

Ok out of my system :)

Wow Fienen, that's amazing! Now to get the masses to see that and decide that they want to put in "just a little more" to get the tantalizing goodies in higher tiers!

      Love your work, Fienen.

Adam, I did exactly that for this project. See this spreadsheet:…

In the spirit of ragingly successful Kickstarters, having a chart of what you are getting at each level worked really well for RIch Burlew (as well as his general "throw art at them" techniques). If you hired/partnered with Rich to make the chart, that'd be awesome too. Here's what he did:

Showing people visually what loot they'll get at each level is pretty awesome. Also, more loot, especially cheap things like magnets/notepads/stickers etc could bring out the horder mentality of your gamer audience. Just a thought!

Will backer characters added by the GAMER reward level be illustrated?

Also, I noticed you created separate CONTRIBUTOR and ADVENTURE CONTRIBUTOR reward levels, with the former the more popular of the two. On a related note, when you say backer characters added to the setting by the GAMER and ART LOVER reward levels may be included in one (or more?) of the stretch goal books, do you mean any of the books, including the adventures? Or, do you mean the Player's Guide, the Corebook, the Ninth World Bestiary and the Tech Manual? Curious… :)

Immortalising a backer character in the Corebook would be awesome — really awesome! Particularly if there's the option for a full colour illustration. And, especially if the limited leatherbound special edition comes off at $300K! This would definitely be my preference.

When we hit $160K, adding a full-colour backer character to the Bestiary would be cool, too. However, I'm not sure how/why a backer character blurb/write-up would be included there — possibly within a NPC section, as per the Legacy of the Dragons Bestiary? Love Arcana Unearthed/Evolved, btw.

Will the Manual of Tech initially be B&W? Perhaps with a full-colour option being added at $260K or above? I imagine there'd be plenty of cool sections to feature a backer character there.

And, the potential to have a backer character exemplify a type, descriptor or focus in the Player's Guide would be neat. There's always sample character sheets, too.

Lastly, I'm guessing the Numenera Short Story will be written before play-testing commences — hence its exclusion (though, that would have been really cool).

      Rock on.
