About this project
Dear Supporters, friends and family,
This project has been a long time coming. I started playing and composing music since I was a young lad in Woodstock, NY in the 80's and 90's...
I was first a guitar player, then a bass player and now I am settling back with the guitar, bringing to it some techniques I honed while playing bass professionally for over a decade. I toured the world and had an amazing time with my former bandmates in Coheed and Cambria, but my heart has always been with folk music and my dream was always to write my own music.
So, here it is folks. I am going to take a stab at it. Flux Fortuna is the band I always wanted to have. It's the outlet for my ideas, emotions, thoughts and musical compositions. The songs on this album were all written after my arrest in July 2011 - some in jail, some in holdings and halfway houses, and some on my cancer sick bed. They are all autobiographic, but I think you'll find them accessible - hopefully. I have a tight group of musicians that are going to help me with this project and I am more than ready to share my vision with you.
A lot of you have been with me on this ride over the years and I am really serious when I say that I could not have done it without all of you. I think I've got some great incentives for all of you and I hope you will support this final piece in my long journey to fulfill my dream.
Flux Fortuna will use the money from this Kickstarter in the following manner:
- Studio time for tracking and producing of a Live EP
- Mixing and mastering of EP
- Video production of EP recording
Anything above the Fundraiser goal will be used to put towards a future tour.
Risks and challenges
The risk for not completing this project are two fold: health of band members and completion of final project due to studio time and final production. The band and I do not really consider these real risks, but we wanted to state the obvious above, especially since you all probably know of my recent bout with cancer.
However, I will work diligently with the band to ensure that the risks above are kept to a minimum. I am cleared by the doctors and am in remission and healthy, playing gigs and practicing on a regular basis.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
What is the difference between the "Aden" shirt at the $25 level and the "Flux Fortuna" shirt at the $55 level?
Please see update #3 for an image of the Aden shirt. The Flux Fortuna shirt can be seen here (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php…) and comes in crew necks for men and v-necks for women.
At the end of the campaign we will send a survey to you that allows you to indicate the size you want.
The Kickstarter incentives indicate a September 2013 delivery date, but we are hoping to get most of the items to you much sooner, likely by June 2013.
