Details on Octodad: Dadliest Catch PS4

Posted by Octodad (Creator)

Hey Backers,

We're going to be spreading this news far and wide as soon as we've recovered from all this madness, but we wanted to let you know first since you're the ones who helped kickstart the game to this point.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch will be making it's console debut on the PlayStation 4 in 2014

However, do not fret as it will still be coming to PC/Mac/Linux and Steam BEFORE it launches on PS4. So you guys will still be the first players to get your hands on the full game. It was a bit difficult to have this news come across clearly while also keeping the PS4 port a secret.

We're still on track for a very early 2014 release for PC/Mac/Linux and Steam. Kevin spent about a month porting the game to PS4 for E3, but the impact this had on the rest of development has been rather minimal.

The PS4 release will be later in 2014, but our first and highest priority is to get the game out there on the original platforms we announced back when this all began. We're going to try and put out another update in a few weeks that better details our progress on the completion of the game. We'll also have a remixed teaser trailer available hopefully in the next day or so with a lot of new gameplay footage. So look out for that.

Thank you so much for your continued support and if you have any questions make sure to shoot them our way. We'd be happy to talk you through anything you might be confused or worried about concerning the game. We're all super excited!

Best to you all,

Young Horses

So, is there any chance of seeing this game on the Wii U as well? Nintendo's become way more indie friendly with their new console than with WiiWare.

We'd like to be able to offer that, but we are not sure yet what Sony's stance is on being able to give out codes. We'll let everyone know if we find out anything closer to release.

That's good enough for me--thank you!

I don't think so, but we can definitely ask Sony about that. We'd like to if we can.

Any chance we could trade the PC download for a PS4 download? ...Probably not, right?
