I'm excited to announce that I've recorded my new record Filaments, featuring Kurt Rosenwinkel, Tommy Crane, Phil Donkin, Jeff Miles, Shelly Tzarafi, Alexa Barchini, Noah Preminger and other fine musicians. This is an album of original music inspired by important moments, people and feelings over the last few years that I've tried my best to translate into song. It's been a long time in the making, and the time in the studio was fantastic.
However, successfully creating an album is not simply recording the music. That may be the easiest part! There's mixing, post-production, mastering, reproduction and a whole lot of other things that need to happen before the album can be released into the wild (isn't it great that albums are "released"). Record labels are few and far between nowadays, and those that support artists are even harder to find. This means that us artists need to have such confidence in our work that we believe people want to hear our music so much, that they'll help produce it.
It's one thing to hear a record and love it, and wonder about how all the moving parts came together to create such great music, but it's another to experience it from the eyes of someone who helped create it. And without your support it truly can't be created.
So I hope all of you who have heard my music live, recorded or have appreciated it on some level are as excited to experience this record as I am. And for those of you who I've yet had the opportunity to play for, I hope to be able to very soon.
