We are working hard to reach our additional stretch goals! Our minimum funding level is just enough to initiate production, but not enough to complete the movie.
Please consider backing this rare high-caliber short film, shooting an award-winning script, on Red cameras, with a cast and crew boasting 9 total Emmy nominations!
And, to sweeten this opportunity, we've made our producer credits more accessible than any film in its class!!
AN EPIC THANK YOU TO OUR WONDERFUL BACKERS!!!
Log Line: A daring US Congressman hires a foreign hitman to dispose of his younger wife, but she's already a step ahead.
Catharsis Media and DET 4 Films teamed almost a year ago to collaborate on a competitive movie for the film festival circuit, one that also delivers the kind of suspense a loyal Hitchcock fan would relish. Furthermore, the team endeavors to make a high-quality production that all attached (cast, crew, and backers) would be excited to support and proud to claim as their own.
PURPOSE. Why are we doing this? To demonstrate our filmmaking chops with a true calling-card short, in order to elevate our stock as filmmakers, and enable greater production opportunities in this creative trade we love. After much film education, training, and loads of filmmaking experience, it's time to put it all together and make something exciting and memorable.
SCREENPLAY. In order to achieve our objective, we've carefully planned the execution of this film for over a year -beginning with a solid script! Before we could or would ask anyone to back our project, with their time and/or money, it was essential for us to be able to demonstrate that our story/script has the capability to deliver our stated goals.
Therefore, after much fine tuning, we validated our script, by allowing it to be reviewed and judged by expert panels in leading film festivals; and, this is what they had to say:
"Compelling Premise, gripping story. Solid story structure, good character development. Believable characters, snappy dialogue. Great job!"
"Excellent in Plot, Structure, Characters, Pace, Originality, and Entertainment. The Suspense is nicely maintained throughout!"

CAST. With an industry-validated script to stand on, we employed an excellent casting director to help find a perfectly-matched and highly-talented cast to deliver our story. We were not disappointed. We're pleased to introduce:
International actress and model, Katarina Morhacova, as Rendezvous' leading lady. Her most recent work includes Steven Soderbergh's new mini-series, The Knick. She also stars in Claudia La Bianca's highly anticipated, 2014 release, The Journey of a Dragonfly.
Adding great depth to Rendezvous is Emmy-winning actor, David Lago. The five-time Emmy-nominee is best known as Raul Guittierez, on The Young and the Restless. With numerous film and television roles behind him, including several titles in the suspense genre, we are elated to have him help deliver our project.
Another substantial compliment to the cast is NY-Based Actor Francis Jue. The veteran Broadway actor has amassed many distinguished awards including an Obie, the off-Broadway equivalent to the Tony Award, and many critics circle awards. His television credits include a recurring role in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and supporting role in the big-budgeted film Joyful Noise.
KEY REMAINING CAST: We are in-talks with two remaining key cast members, both of whom we are eager to get into the film. Their attachments to Rendezvous strictly depend on the extent of our backer support. They include Hollywood star Corbin Bernsen, who would play the role of the Congressman. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000929/reference
Also, rising star Josh Wingate, who we've pursued as Rendezvous' Hitman. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0974594/reference
*Both actors are essentially available to do our project. Their impact to Rendezvous needs no explanation.
CREW. Our strident effort to assemble a highly experienced crew has resulted in a production and post-production team as talented and distinguished as our cast. Key and notable filmmakers:
Seth Kozak, Writer/Producer (Positive Altitude, Order My Steps)
Seth's experience in filmmaking began in 1997, producing super 8mm and 16mm shorts in his B.A. film program, at Southern Illinois University. Through his coursework, he developed a passion for screenwriting and production, to include working with many styles of animation. Since graduating, Seth has worked on both sides of the camera with features, shorts and commercials, across America and internationally. His filmography includes work on Salt, Splinter, Lifetime Movie Network's Living Proof, and the acclaimed indie, Barking Water, which screened a Sundance and Venice.
Damian Veilleux, Director
Damian completed his directorial debut in 2012 with the release of the feature film The Eighteenth Hour. The film earned an official selection at the 2012 Maine International Film Festival. His professional background comprises more than ten years of graphic design experience, specializing in advanced photo and print techniques for clients such as KISS, Metallica, Aerosmith, the Boston Rex Sox, and L.L. Bean. Damian holds an A.A. in graphic design and a B.S. in Forensic Psychology. He is co-founder and CEO of Catharsis Media.

LOCATIONS. The story is told across six principle locations. Of these, our flagship location, The Blair Hill Inn, in Maine, is where 65% of the story unfolds.
A lot of labor has been expended to properly prepare Rendezvous for success. We are very happy to present to hopeful backers the premier ingredients we are using to achieve an artful and entertaining vision. We have tried to make it easy for backer-hunters of indie gems to hone their support on our film. We are eager to share with you an exciting production journey, and permanently honor as many supporters as possible in the film's credits.
In order to do so much with so little, we let our passion and creativity take us the extra mile. For an example, we held a national poster contest last summer, and enrolled up to 200 contestants! The event ran for three months, offering our production as a vehicle of opportunity for talented graphic artists. Now, we're very pleased to showcase the fruits of that effort, represented in the artful Rendezvous poster series at the top of the page.
This effort makes a corroborating statement of our dedication, preparation, competence and uniqueness. In our responsibility and loyalty to our supporters, we're happy to be transparent in our creative risk-taking.
BUDGET. The minimum cost to get this film shot appropriately is $6,500. However, this would require us to eliminate some marquee production elements and reduce our overall production potential.
Stretch Goal 1 - $6500: Completed film with 3 of our 5 key cast members, use of some secondary locations is necessary.
Stretch Goal 2 - $9000: Add all of our locations, a road permit, aerial photography, enhanced sound design, and additional equipment.
Stretch Goal 3 - $13,000: Add our fourth key cast member, first-rate score, color correction, a licensed song, and clip of archival footage
Stretch Goal 4 - $17,000: Add original title sequence, enhanced production design, dedicated film festival run at 15-20 International Film Festivals.
Final Stretch Goal - $24,700: Enter A-list actor!
This expense chart depicts general expense categories, reflecting the complex realities of filmmaking. We have already achieved thousands of dollars in savings through strident negotiations, which lowered or eliminated costs in equipment, services, locations, labor, talent, materials, etc.
We are passionate and competent filmmakers who have come prepared to meet our backers, complete our team, and put a successful film "in the can!" We hope you would like to have a stake in making this happen, and enjoy helping to write a page in movie history!
In the news:
Rendezvous was endorsed by Indiewire as it's Project of the Day!
Risks and challenges
Since we're working with major LA- and NY-based talent, who are in great demand, there is always the risk that one's availability may change, which could delay the shooting of some scenes by several weeks. If this occurs, we are prepared to reschedule applicable scenes accordingly. The seasonal conditions required to tell our story are sustained for a few months' time in Maine, where we're shooting most of the picture.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
