About this project
The campaign has now reached its target and all paperback book rewards will be shipped on Monday 15th December in time to be given as Christmas gifts..
Check back soon for news on my website:
I was very lucky to have grown up with the old Irish myths and legends of Fionn and the Fianna, Cú Chulainn, The Salmon of Knowledge, Queen Maeve among so many other tales - and they have always held a very special place in my heart since then.
Around 2009 I was looking for copies of these tales to give to my niece and nephews but I couldn't find any in an appropriate format that I could read and share with them.
I was still very keen to share the stories with them so I decided I was going to and produce my own versions - just for them.
I spoke with my niece and nephews about the books they enjoyed so that I could understand where I could start with the text and illustrations.
I also talked with family and friends who had children to get their input and I revised the style of writing and the style of illustrations (over and over again...) until I found what my niece and nephews enjoyed most.
I recently managed to produce a very small print run of the Cú Chulainn story and to allow me to give them to my niece and nephews - every minute and hour spent on the book was paid back a hundred times over when I sat with them and they read the book back to me.... it was absolutely worth every one of the smallest tweak of illustration and layout!
I was planning on completing the finishing and printing the next 2 books over the coming months but some of the people who had helped me and encouraged me along the way have already shared the first book with friends and family are keen to see the next books as soon as possible.
The reaction from them has been so positive that I’d love to share these books with other families.
All three books are designed and ready to go into print and I’m hoping that this Kickstarter campaign will allow me to produce a large run of them.
The story books themselves are designed to be as engaging and fun as possible and of a very high quality so they are 8.5" by 8.5" (21.6cm x 21.6cm) in size with full colour illustrations and a gloss finished cover.
Along with these, I will be producing ebook versions, colouring books and an interactive website.
I've deliberately set the campaign end date for the 14th December so that I can ship as many books as possible on the following day to hopefully allow each reward to be delivered in time to be shared by families over Christmas and the holidays.
Thanks for taking the time to read my story and if you have any questions then I'd love to answer them.
Risks and challenges
All three books have been designed and professionally laid-out with a recent print run already completed that will allow me to fulfill the paperback rewards immediately.
This means that I only require a successful Kickstarter campaign to allow me to complete the ebook versions and to order those larger print runs
The Hardback book is a stretch goal that I'd love to reach with the individual books needing to be professionally combined into a new single print ready format.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
