About this project
I take famous rappers, such as Nas, 2pac, Biggie, Eminem, MF DOOM, and still others, and break down the rhythms of their words in an easy-to-understand way. A lot of people are distracted by different stuff, like the outlandish personalities of some rappers, when they hear rap music, without ever taking time to realize that rappers are musicians too.
Throughout this book, I will reveal the underlying structure to the words and rhythms that rappers write, and how to understand their rap in musical terms. You will learn a lot about rap, such as why some rappers are considered more complex than others, some terms to classify and differentiate rappers from each other in terms of their rhythms, and why you might like one rapper and not another. At the end, you will be able to do the same kind of analysis that I do.
You can find an example of what I do at this article here, entitled "The Rapper's Flow Encyclopedia."
You can read read a working preface to the book here: "Check Out My Melody: How To Listen To Rap Music".
You can see what the people are saying about my work at this page here.
Please note that unless I reach my goal of $11,500, I will not receive a cent - Kickstarter's donation scheme is all-or-nothing.
I will use the money raised to finish writing, self-publish, and deliver this book through Lulu.com.
Risks and challenges
I don't really see any risks or challenges here. I mean, the book is pretty much finished. I've got 30 articles already on my site, probably comprising 150 pages or so already.
But, I don't know - the Internet might break?
The post man might get lost on his/her way to your house?
Sorry, there's nothing I can do in that case then.
I think we're looking pretty good for this guys. Go ahead and feel free to donate with a clean and clear conscience.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Actually, yes! Just add some extra delivery money to whatever you pledge. The book will be about 1 pound, and will fit inside an envelope. Then, add that extra money to whatever you pledge.
