A Hops related update!
So, it's been a while since I've had anything to say about Hedonistic Hops - we did most of the development and photography back in the fall, and basically had to wait till spring before we could do anything else.
Our hops are coming up a little later than expected, but they're coming up in abundance, so we're good to go with finishing up the last bit of development and photography!
We sauteed our first batch of hop shoots of the year for breakfast the other day - along with some mushrooms, onions, garlic, and butter. Such a simple, tasty saute.. but also kind of ritzy, considering that hop shoots are the most expensive vegetable in the world. Yep, in Europe they can sell for $500/lb and up!
While I can't personally ever picture paying that much for any vegetable, they are delicate, tasty, and have a lovely texture!
Anyway, just wanted to check in to say I'm still here, and about to start working on the last bit of the book. I'll probably be going quiet again for the next few weeks, as we have a pretty short window to actually work with the shoots.
Will update again when finished with this part of the book!
Thank you again for your support... and patience! This is the first time I've ever had to pause book development for seasonality of ingredients. Felt a bit strange!
