Welcome to Bobtown: Population 102 (and climbing)
You are incredbile! We reached our goal, and your incredible support and kindness has left us STUNNED!
But - we'd hate for you to think anything we make over our stated goal is going to have us riding in limos, sipping champagne and trashing hotel rooms. We might splurge on a bottle of Prosecco, but otherwise, all monies will go directly to this album. There's actually $5000+ more in expenses we will incur than we actually asked for. (We didn't want to be greedy, after all.)
Here's how it breaks down. First, Kickstarter & Amazon must pay their bills, so they will take nearly 10% off the top of whatever we achieve. Anything left over goes toward:
$7000 - $9000 (recording, producer, mastering, pressing)
$3500 - $4000 (promotion)
$3000 + (touring - something we've always wanted to do but could never afford)
So, as you can see anything you donate over and beyond our $8000 goal STILL goes directly towards making this album a success! Please know we are most appreciative for getting this far...though it would be beyond our wildest dreams to get even more support for promotion and touring, we would warmly accept it!
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
Bobtown is the home of rustic, noir-country folk-with-a-kick, a place where people still sit in a circle, strumming guitars and singing, a place where American music still grows.
New AlbumWe’re independent artists, and independent is just another way of saying underfunded. Your generous donation goes directly towards recording, mixing, mastering, and pressing eleven-or-so tracks. All of this costs some serious bucks, the kind of money that a Wall Street banker takes an entire ten seconds to make.
Now we have eleven new songs to record - songs about life, death, good love gone bad, death, notorious bank robbers, death, God, death, deluge, and death. But we can't do it without you.
But this is the best part… there's something in it for you. Yep, every donation level gets a reward, and any amount you give is hugely appreciated. So please, move your finger over to the donate button and let’s create some art together!
Last year was chock-full of shows to support our debut CD, one that got a great response: "beautiful voices… strikingly powerful songs," "gothic-folk-Americana kissed with gorgeous harmonies," “no flaming jet arse oil,” and other kind words that we like to read over and over again.
This past year we were also busy with the Bobtown Covers Project. Head over to YouTube to see the first three videos - Blue Oyster Cult's “Don't Fear The Reaper” and Arcade Fire's “My Body Is A Cage” and The Police's "Roxanne". We’re fixing to have the remaining video shot and up on Youtube in the next couple of months, so keep checking our site for updates!
