This is Maya and welcome to my Kickstarter project where I am trying to make my first professional album! I play guitar, sing, and write songs, and I am finally taking the step to compile songs I love from the country, old-time and blues traditions, as well as a few of my own, into a recording project.
I chose to record in Lafayette, Louisiana, where I know many talented musicians, and a great audio engineer, Chris Stafford.
We've recorded 7 songs so far, but they are not finished. I still have to finish adding to those songs, and to record 5 new songs in the studio. Then there is still the work of mixing, mastering, and pressing the CDs.
I am thrilled to have some of the finest, professional musicians working with me on my project: Eric Frey, Chas Justus, Daniel Coolik, and Glenn Fields of the Red Stick Ramblers/The Revelers; Kevin Wimmer, Cary Fridley, Stephanie Coleman, and David Greely.
My Goal and Kickstarter Policy
I'm trying to raise $5,000 to cover some of the costs of studio time, paying musicians, mixing, and mastering the recording.
The estimated costs for these steps are:
Studio time: $2,500
Paying musicians: $2,200
The way Kickstarter works is that in order to receive funding for the project, I must reach my goal - $5,000 - by my deadline date. If I don't reach my goal by that date, you won't be charged and I won't receive any funding.
I appreciate all levels of contribution you would like to make. Check out the rewards I am offering for different levels of contribution. Thank you in advance for your support and for taking the time to learn about my project. Your support and involvement is crucial in making this project happen!
