Good morning, everyone! (At least, it's morning where I am.)
So, now that we've succeeded, what comes next? I'm going to lay out a list for you here so you have a sense of how this is all going to go, timing-wise:
- Getting the money. It generally takes Kickstarter about 2 weeks to actually get pledged funds into a project creator's bank account, and it can take another week for the bank to make those funds available. In all, I expect to receive the money you've generously provided sometime in early May (minus, of course, any dropped pledges and the approximately 10% share that Kickstarter and the payment processor will take as their cut).
Designing and testing the distinct starting cards. While I wait for that to run its course, I have some design work to do! As you may recall, I folded the first two stretch goals into the base game two days ago. This means a better game for you all--but it also means that some extra time needs to go into design work. In particular, I have to design and test the distinct starting cards for the four messiahs before we proceed with manufacturing! I expect the vast majority of this time to be spent in testing, ensuring that the cards I select don't mess up the game's balance. Depending on how testing goes, this stage could take anywhere from weeks to months. Ultimately, I believe it's far better to have a great game later than an unbalanced one sooner, so I don't have any plans to rush this stage.
- Manufacturing and shipping. Once I have the money and I'm satisfied with the distinct starting cards, I'll then start manufacturing the game! Manufacturing a game is a lengthy process consisting of multiple stages (James Mathe wrote a nice breakdown of them here under the "Timing" heading, if you're curious)--but the bottom line is that this stage can take anywhere from 3 to 5 months, assuming that there are no hiccups.
So that's what you can expect! My hope is that we won't encounter any major hiccups, and that True Messiah will be on your doorstep by the end of the year. No matter what, though, I'll be communicating with you all periodically as we progress through these stages.
Thanks for reading, and thank you once again for backing. I'm terribly excited to finally bring this game out into the world--and into your hands!
