All about Telepath Tactics multiplayer!
Telepath Tactics began life as a multiplayer game, and that remains the portion of the game closest to completion. Local multiplayer, a rare and important feature, has been fully functional (and really fun!) in Telepath Tactics for months now.
In the video below, I walk through the numerous customization options that go into a local multiplayer match (free-for-all vs. teams, army composition rules, fog of war, etc.) and play a 2 vs. 2 match with one CPU ally against two CPU opponents.
The match itself begins at 6:59. You'll see random item drops, status effects, and--my personal favorite--units getting shoved into the lava. Behold!
Though this video is live-commentated, Telepath Tactics will support match replays when all is said and done. This means that commentators will be able to check out various matches and make videos, much like the big boys do in Starcraft 2.
Also, a quick note about the AI: you'll notice the computer oscillating between poor decisions and flashes of brilliance over the course of this particular match. The AI is still very much in progress, currently consisting almost exclusively of aggressive routines. As development continues, I'll be adding new routines to support tactical retreats, grabbing and using items on the battlefield, and other behaviors that will make for a more reliably challenging CPU opponent.
