Fantasy tactics with mod support, manipulable battlefields, a Fire Emblem-style campaign and hotseat multiplayer.
This project's funding goal was not reached on December 29, 2012.
Use this space to cheer the creator along, ask questions, and talk to your fellow backers. Please remember to be respectful and considerate. Thanks!
Please don't spam other Kickstarter projects here. (Incidentally, I actually got in touch with the Space Shock about publicizing their game, but they have yet to respond.)
This comment has been removed by Kickstarter.
Hope to see this get a fresh start, will back again.
Thanks, William! Character portraits are one of the things I'm raising money to pay for.
Sorry you didn't reach your goal! I played the demo and thought the game was very well put-together. Do you think you could give the characters portraits, though?
I agree with everyone. Wait until the tax returns are in and give it another go. I'll back you again.
Thanks for the support, everyone! I said I wasn't going to give up on this game unless I was run over by a truck, and I meant it. I just posted a final update with some thoughts about the campaign and my plans going forward: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1426761469/telepath-tactics/posts/377080
This game definitely deserves another try, I would back it again.
As others have said, the timing wasn't great, it's hard to get attention around Christmas. There also needs to be more promotion next time, I think I only read about it once, and I check quite a few gaming sites - of course that's easier said than done.
Maybe next time you should do what Antharion did for its second attempt - lower the goal so that you can reach your goal early in the campaign. I think some people don't bother to back a project when they see it is unlikely to meet the goal.
Not reaching the goal is only a setback in my opinion.
I think that you should try again, but with another timing. Here, you launched during the christmas period. People have other priorities, and i'm convinced that a lot did not pay attention to the project, the timing, and did not bother back it because of the family/friend gifts and other expenses.
Also, your video is kinda long and a bit dull or boring (no offense). Maybe you should approach the KS video with a smaller duration, maybe a little bit more dynamic, and with specific key points that may appear on the screen during the video. Check how Ouya's video is presented for example, or Predestination http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nyphur/predestination-a-turn-based-space-4x-strategy-game or Forsaken Fortress http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1317934609/forsaken-fortress for the most recent sucessfully funded.
Plan on a better period than christmas.
Shorter videos, straight to the point.
Next time, i'm pretty sure that Telepath Tactics will be succesfull. Cheer up and keep up the good work !
Keep it up! We will rock this next time around. Of course we will need a bit more hype around it.
I will back your next kickstart.
Sorry to see that Telepath Tactics didn't quite there in the end. It's a shame. This is still a game that I really want to play though! I hope that you run another Kickstarter soon! I'll back it for sure!
You have to do it again. I have been waiting my whole life for a game like this.
That's a shame, but keep trying (after a well-deserved break, that is). Kickstarter comes with infinite lives, after all, and you've already proven that over 800 people are willing to give away over $15,000 after merely having checked out a few gameplay clips and demo files. Telepath Tactics *will* be funded in 2013!
Dude, just dont give up now. This thing is too good to not be made. Maybe go for a Alphafunding on Desura?
This is too good of a game to give up on. I hope you keep trying.
Bah! I was REALLY looking forward to this! hopefully you'll give it another go, or find an alternative means of release.
I suspect that the timing may have been an issue, with the kickstarter finishing so close to Christmas. I know i'd have thrown more cash in the pot had I been able!
Marketing is more important than you think. I only heard about this through the kickstarter mainpage randomly. Not a lot of people visit the kickstarter mainpage. Get yourself talked about :) I know that's easier said than done.
Craig, i hope you will try one more time, the game is promising.
like craig said he will try again and next time he already has the backers from this times contact info......i think he was going to rethink the pricing of the preorder bonuses too to get more backers but im not sure.........i imagine a lot of you us were pressed for cash being so close to christmas who knows. hopefully craig can use this as learning experience for next time.
No luck. -_-
This deserves another try.
I'm so sorry this didn't make it. I've given what I can. You deserved it.
Upped my pledge too.
Ok, up to $40 ... that's my original pledge times four, for the four hours remaining :-)
Upped to $25.
Well, Telepath Tactics is right on top of the Ending Soon page. At the very least, people who check that page out will be aware of it.
Just upped my pledge by $25
Aaaaaand here we go! http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/15m281/i_am_craig_stern_indie_game_developer_ask_me/
Thanks for the support, everyone! I'm going to run an IAMA on Reddit pretty soon, so prepare whatever questions you have; I'll be posting the link as soon as it's live.
Craig is the real deal. He is brilliant and has put his heart and soul into Telepath Tactics over the last 2 years. Please step up and help him meet his goal with this campaign! We only have 8 hours to go and we can do this!!!
only 2 ways this can happen. upping pledges or spreading the word.whatever we do it has to be fast. heres hoping.
Just upped our pledge to 100. Come on guys, gotta make this happen!!!!
Craig, are you thinking of maybe having a system like Prison Architect or Under the Ocean, where people can pre-purchase the game and get early access to it?...because I think a lot of us would love to get our hands on the game now and help you develop/refine it :)
Also, I think this could possibly lower the goal for the next kickstarter campaign. And if people who have already pre-purchased the game, want the extras available in the new campaign like naming an NPC etc, you could implement an add-on system similar to other campaigns like Strike Suit Zero's "Top-Ups" etc
But this implies that this campaign is going to fail, so I guess I'm getting a little ahead of myself. Though I think it's something to consider, we can still make THIS happen, so here's hoping for a miracle :)
While this isn't really my type of game, I pledged to help support you. I hope you make your goal in the end.
Upped to 100. Hope we can squeak through in the next 10 hours
Upped my pledge from 10 to 50; hope it helps :-)
Raised my pledge. Come on every one. Let's make this happen.
Having long ago played every single game in the Telepath series and loving all of the tactical depth involved, this was a no-brainer for my first-ever Kickstarter pledge.
Whether it's gonna be tomorrow or whenever, you'll have my support.
I think it will be nice game. Light from me.
What have I done, leaving kickstater for weeks and almost miss this gem. All I want is this game to get the goal ! Everything looks promising and definitely worth a pledge. I wish you the best of luck Craig, you deserve way more then what the kickstarter community's giving you right now (Through thanks to the other 782 backers :P ~ You're the good part of it); Let's make this game a reality !
Raised my pledge as much as I could afford.
I increased my pledge, in the hopes of seeing this game successfully kickstarted. I see a lot of potential in the game and I love games like this. Even if the kickstarter fails, however, I'll be back for your next attempt. I would definitely like to see this game succeed.
Derik: I haven't done this before, but my understanding is that you'll be debited pretty quickly and I'll actually see the money within something like three weeks.
Just backed this im gunning for you. Question if it gets funded when is the money taken out of said account?
Ok - I increased my pledge! Good luck, Craig!
Hey Caleb! The single player campaign is structured very similarly to a Fire Emblem campaign; if you don't see it in the demo, it's because it currently leaves out most of the story and character development for the sake of showing off as many of the game's mechanics as possible in a short span of time.
I really like the cut of your jib Mr. Stern. I confess the particulars of the game leave me a tad cold as I'm more of a strict single player but I really like your attitude and approach when it comes to design.
I do wonder about the game's RPG aspects. In my opinion, Fire Emblem was more of an RPG than a strategy game (mostly because of the high level of randomness and because if you leveled effectively you could make any battle a joke). Will this have similar RPG elements to Fire Emblem or be more strictly a strategy game?
craig, thx for the reminder. we are getting closer to the target, really hope you can make it!
Well, this has to happen. no matter what. Just quadrupled my pledge. :)
Muttala: Kickstarter.com itself has actually been the largest single source of backers for the game so far, followed by a combination of all the sites who linked without providing referral info, followed by RockPaperShotgun.com. Those are the top 3. Just sayin'!
The Defender's Quest giveaway is cumulative with all the other rewards. At the $100 level, you're already getting so much stuff (the right to name a character, early map editor access, early access to the game, digital art, the Telepath Tactics postcard, Telepath Psy Arena 2, Telepath RPG: Servants of God, and the Telepath RPG: Servants of God Soundtrack--did I miss anything?), that getting Defender's Quest and the Defender's Quest soundtrack is just icing on the cake. It's meant to be an extra incentive, not something worth $100 all on its own. ;)
Hey, Brian Fargo backed Telepath Tactics! Thanks, buddy! I was all over Wasteland 2 once I'd learned of the project (PayPal, though... I was totally new to Kickstarter at the time). From one great tactical game designer to another, yes?
