Ribbons of War was originally the bold vision of songwriter/rockstar Jay Purdy about two lovers, one chained to the sea, and the other to the sky. He took that vision and he made a sweet album out of it, and he took that album and made a sweet tour. Josh Gulotta went to a concert of that tour, and his mind was duly blown. He called up his partner in crime, Andrew Fridae, and said "We should make a musical out of this!"
And that's exactly what we're doing.
We've got a killer cast, we've got a grand crew, we've got a lovely space, we've got a fabulous creative team, and assuming we make our budget, we'll have a great show with great sets and lights and music. But we need money for that to happen.
The good news is, we don't need a whole lot of money (as far as theatrical productions go) and the great news is, if you help us we'll thank you with goodies like shirts, posters, tickets, drinks, pirate visitations, puppets and more!
What are you waiting for? Don't answer that question, even in your own head- instead, use that valuable thought space to calculate how much you can donate without going hungry. That way, you can earn the everlasting gratitude of the cast, crew, audience, and anyone else who values patrons of art.
Thanks! See you in the audience,
Andrew Fridae and the Minus Dan Production Team
Risks and challenges
In any production, you face a lot of challenges, and they're never the same. Live theater is the ultimate venue for creative problem solving, because something always can- and will- go wrong. We, however, are confident that with your funding we can cover all our emergency bases so that those problems won't bleed onstage and interfere with your enjoyment of this show. For starters, we've got a masterful set designer, Edward Rivera, who's finding all kinds of lovely, salvaged- and therefore free- set material. We've also got Josh and Andrew, who's specialty is shoestring budgets. Most importantly, there's our Queen/Production Manager Olivia Murphy, whose primary job is tackling unforeseen disaster, and who's so on top of her stuff that her professionalism shines out like a beacon- guiding the rest of from potential hazards and bad ideas.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
