At 85% funded let's have some fun and add a stretch goal! How about this, if we hit $17,000 every ($25 +) backer will get one kids t-shirt (one size will be ordered)! Plus, you can help me come up with the design! (Superhero, robot (see below), astronaut?!) I am all about the comfy tee so it will be a soft American Apparel style shirt.
Our nightly ritual does not always involve superhero costumes, but it often requires serious negotiating to get little ones into bed. The kids love to read and are always bartering for more bedtime stories. I love reading to them, and am usually an easy sell. There is something truly special about a great nighttime story; the way they recite the favorites from memory, and the magical effect it has on their imaginations. It is the best time of day. Even Superheroes Have to Sleep combines a love of action with the reality that at the end of the day, after all of the work and play, we have to go to sleep (even if we are a superhero, princess, pirate, or astronaut). One evening, while trying to coax my sons out of their superhero costumes and into bed, I advised them that "even superheroes have to sleep." As soon as the words came out of my mouth, I was inspired.
About The Book
A playful rhyming board book targeted at one to eighty-six year olds (hey, we are all kids at heart!). The main characters range from a princess and a pirate to a doctor and an astronaut. All of which need their sleep after a long day on the job!
Why a rhyming book?
We all know how important it is to read to our children, but why a rhyming book? Research has shown the importance of rhyming and the correlation with learning to read. Rhyming helps children to distinguish the different sounds that make up words. This book uses rhyming to playfully explore the necessity of sleep through popular characters that our children often imitate.
Where will the funds go?
The Kickstarter funds will be used to cover the costs of illustrating the book and to print and ship the initial run. This will provide enough inventory to place the book for sale at local bookstores and online. Ultimately, my goal is to get this book published and into as many children's hands as possible.
The more money we raise = more books printed = more children sleeping better at night = a happier world (it's science).
What's in it for you, one might ask? Besides the distinct fact that YOU are making this project possible, you will also get a first edition of the book before anyone else!!!

Risks and challenges
The book is complete. It is fully illustrated. You read that right, it is DONE!! I have received a sample from my chosen printer (seen in pictures above) and it is gorgeous!
I am very confident that once this project is funded I will deliver on my goal to ship the books to you by August, 2015.
The printing is scheduled to take 4 - 7 weeks. The only risks would be related printing delays. I promise to keep you posted along the way!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
